Biggest Jump Of The Week: Hailee Steinfeld – Most Girls (+15)
New Entrants
– To start us off, we have the resurgence of Macklemore featuring newcomer Skylar Grey (who makes her first appearance on the countdown) with their single Glorious.  Macklemore has been around producing some great hits with Ryan lewis as a duo (Thrift Shop, Can’t Hold Us, etc.).  The last time we saw him was back in 2015, when he released Downtown.  This year, the duo has disbanded and now Macklemore has become a solo artist.  Glorious is a bit toned down when compared to his previous hits, but he still does a good job with his rapping skills (unlike most mainstream rappers nowadays).  Skylar Grey does a great job with her vocals, also.  The lyrics are basically about feeling glorious and given the chance to start again.  Overall, it’s a win for both Macklemore & Skylar Grey, and I hope it stays for a while.
– We have more Imagine Dragons, this time with Thunder.  I didn’t quite like this at first, but with time (and more listens), I’ve grown to like it.  I like some of the lyrics (especially the line “Lighting then a thunder”), and I can’t help but pull myself in.  While not quite as good as Believer, I’ll certainly take this.
Blurb Me A Place Next To You
– I can’t really say I’m going to miss our exits too much.  Two of them came from the Cyrus sisters.  First we have Stay Together, which I found to be an improvement over its predecessor, but didn’t quite stick with me in the long run.  Then there’s Malibu, which wasn’t the big comeback hit Miley Cyrus was looking for.  I did like this to some degree unlike others, but I’m okay with it departing.
– Before introducing Just Hold On, Spyder Harrison mentioned that Steve Aoki has said that Louis Tomlinson’s new album with blow people’s minds.  Not much has been said about the album yet, but I’ll bet it sounds really good.  Once it comes out, I’ll have to take a listen.  Hopefully, he has a hit or two up his sleeve.
– It’s nice to see Redbone dropping down to the Bottom 5.  Hopefully, it’ll be on its way out soon.
– Speaking of drops, The Cure sadly took a New-York-Giants sized drop this week.  It won’t be much longer with us, though it did quite well and spent a while in the Top 10, despite it not being big elsewhere.
– I want to scream at the fact that Play That Song is still here!  Whoever is still voting for this song needs to stop!
– So, the weekend countdown acutally paused for a moment to play the remix of Mono Mind – Save Me A Place.  I’ve heard this quite a few times this week, and I find this pretty cool.  I have a slight feeling it may become the next Welcome To The Black Parade, in which Hits 1 played it randomly throughout the week.
AJR – Weak is officially annoying.  Get out.  Now.
– Before introducing It Ain’t Me, Spyder Harrison mentioned that Selena Gomez has made a new track with rising EDM artist Marshmello, and she called it her favorite track.  Here’s to hoping it’s better than what she’s been releasing lately.  Also, when Spyder Harrison mentioned Marshmello, it kinda reminded him of S’mores.  Um, you’re kinda making me hungry for s’mores right now.
– Wow.  Are you seriously kidding me?!  Just when I thought Despacito was going to hit #1 here, it drops out of the Top 10 all of a sudden, which is very disappointing to see.  Hopefully, it recovers soon.
– And just like that, Most Girls recovered with that big New-York-Giants sized jump this week.  It’s almost as if that huge drop from last week never happened.
Castle On The Hill took a nice jump back into the Top 10 at #6, literally swapping places with Shape Of You.  Hits 1’s love for Ed Sheeran isn’t going away anytime soon despite these songs losing steam elsewhere.

Body Like A Back Road jumping back into the Top 5 is a big fat NO-NO.  Stop the madness. Now.

– Finally, we come to our new #1!  And guess what?  It’s from Charlie Puth who himself hosted last week’s countdown.  Though Attention has been gaining steam in recent weeks, I didn’t quite expect this to be #1, but I’ll take it.  In fact, this is only the second time Charlie Puth hit #1 as a lead artist; the first was One Call Away, which happened last year in March.
Hit-Bound

The Revivalists – Wish I Knew You
Selena Gomez – Fetish
PRETTYMUCH – Would You Mind (DEBUT)
Justin Bieber featuring BloodPop – Friends (DEBUT)
Rita Ora – Your Song
Ed Sheeran – Galway Girl
Andy Grammer – Give Love
Harry Styles – Two Ghosts
Cheat Codes featuring Demi Lovato – No Promises
Halsey – Bad At Love
Portugal. The Man – Feel It Still
Zedd featuring Liam Payne – Get Low
Sabrina Carpenter – Why
The All-American Rejects – Sweat
Taylor Swift – Look What You Made Me Do (DEBUT)

– We have a quite a few new songs on Hit-Bound this week.  First, let’s start with PRETTYMUCH – Would You Mind.  I definitely think this sounds pretty cool.  It kinda reminds me of a 90’s R&B song, except there’s a little more EDM added to it.
– Next, Justin Bieber is back for another round, this time with his new single titled Friends.  For those who are sick with either I’m The One or Despacito (or both) at this point (except me and a few others), this is something they can get into.  I’ll have more to say when it debuts.
– Finally, we have the all important new song.  It’s from Taylor Swift, who on Friday has released her lead single for her upcoming album Reputation, which is due out on November 10.  The song is called Look What You Made Me Do.  Not long after the departure of I Don’t Wanna Live Forever, I had high expectations coming into the song.  And to say the least, she did not disappoint.  I’m intrigued by the darker and edgier direction she’s going for in her new single, which could set the tone for her new album.  There’s plenty of other good stuff I won’t mention right now.  I’ll have much more on this next week when it inevitably debuts.  But yeah, I’m definitely in love with this!
My Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Taylor Swift – Look What You Made Me Do
2. Ed Sheeran – Galway Girl
3. Halsey – Bad At Love
4. Justin Bieber featuring BloodPop – Friends
5. Cheat Codes featuring Demi Lovato – No Promises

#1 Song This Week One Year Ago: Cheap Thrills by Sia featuring Sean Paul [4th Of 5 Weeks At #1]

Biggest Drop Of The Week: 2U by David Guetta featuring Justin Bieber (-17)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Back To You by Louis Tomlinson featuring Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals (+8)

New Entrants
– To kick off this week’s entrants, we have Major Lazer with his new single Know No Better which features Travis Scott, Camila Cabello, and Quavo. Now, I haven’t really listented to the song that much. I do think Camila has improved on her vocals, and Major Lazer does well with the EDM production. Overall, I don’t have much of an opinion on it yet.

– Our second and final debut comes from Portugal. The Man with the song titled Feel It Still. This song is different compared to some of the other mainstream music  currently on the radio. Now, there are times the song is good, and there are times that it can be a little underwhelming. Maybe it’ll grow on me at some point. I’ll probably hear this in the car more often, given that it’s currently gaining steam elsewhere.

Blurb It Still
– In terms of the exits this week, The Way I Are (Dance With Somebody) I did kinda like to some degree, but I’m not sad to see it off. Symphony, on the other hand, is a different story. I’m very heartbroken to see it leave after spending only one week. It’s too bad that Clean Bandit couldn’t get another hit in the US unlike Rockabye. I definitely enjoyed that song from the first listen and I felt it should’ve done better. Goodbye, Symphony. You will definitely be missed.

– On a more positive note, Shawn Mendes has managed to dethrone Despacito this week with his single There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back. Given that this song is still gaining steam elsewhere, I’m not quite as surprised. But I’m definitely happy that it hit #1 this week.

– It’s also very pleasing to see Wild Thoughts enter the Top 5. It has a chance to hit #1 sometime in the near future. If only Hits 1 would treat it the same way like the AT40 is doing right now instead of having it drop big last week.

– I have a slight feeling this may be it for Now Or Never, what with it declining elsewhere (both on radio & in sales). I’m sure most people are thrilled about this given they’re not very fond of that song. Since I don’t really find that song to be that amazing either and it’s fading on me, I don’t really mind seeing it drop out of the Top 5. But honestly, I kinda thought Halsey would score another #1 hit on the charts. I guess not.

– Dang! 2U took a nasty drop out of the Top 20 and out of the Top 30 altogether. I guess this means David Guetta isn’t going to have a hit even with Justin Bieber.

#1 Song This Week One Year Ago: Justin Timberlake – Can’t Stop The Feeling (9th Of 10 Weeks At #1)

Biggest DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: DJ Khaled featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller – Wild Thoughts (-17) (……)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Demi Lovato – Sorry Not Sorry (+19)

New Entrants
– Our first of two debuts this week comes from returning artist Hey Violet, this time with yet another new single titled Hoodie. I’m sure many of us didn’t expect this to make the countdown so soon. Now, I feel people will like this better, in part because the vocals aren’t as painful to the ears. I do kinda question the lyrics, though. We’ll see how long it lasts here.

– Our second and final debut comes from returning artist P!NK. What About Us is something that I can get into. While not quite as good as her other lead singles, this is a keeper. P!NK is one of those artists that almost never disappoints me with her music. Will this become another hit for her? We’ll have to wait and see. Overall, I’m enjoying this.

What About Blurbs
– As far as our exits go, Crying In The Club was getting less interesting, so I’m kinda happy about the departure. Sign Of The Times took an undeserved exit. It’s too bad it didn’t get popular like all the other songs from the members of One Direction.  So yeah, that song will be missed.

– Before introducing Stay Together, Charlie Puth mentioned that her favorite emoji was the one with the eyeroll. That’s pretty cool given that this emoji is very popular right now. On that note, I heard The Emoji Movie was not very good. I haven’t really seen the movie myself, but I probably won’t since I heard it got a lot of bad reviews.

– So, Closer has managed to officially last one year on the countdown! I would like to say thank you to the voters for making it happen this week!

– Before introducing Play That Song, Charlie Puth did mention that one of the members of Train was actually a guest star on CSI at one point. I’ll have to find the episode and see it for myself. It’s cool that when they’re not making music, they pursue other activities such as acting, charity work, etc.

– Before introducing That’s What I Like, Charlie Puth mentioned that one of Bruno Mars’s favorite foods is the chicken adobo, which comes from the Philippines. Though I do eat plenty of chicken (especially for dinner), I’ve never even heard of the chicken adobo, much less tried it. Someday, I’ll have to try and cook one of those. I’ll bet it tastes so good!

– Are you kidding me? Wild Thoughts took an insanely disappointing New-York-Giants-sized drop out of the Top 20 altogether and then all the way down to #32. It’s a shame that Hits 1 is going to underrate it like they did with I’m The One.

– Before introducing Say You Won’t Let Go, Charlie Puth mentioned that when James Arthur writes his songs, he thinks about his personal experiences. Writing about one’s experiences is a good idea for a song nowadays, especially if one wants to start a career in music.

– Dang! Most Girls also took a massive drop out of the Top 20. I’ve heard this quite a bit this week, so I’m surprised about this. Now, I don’t really mind it sticking it around as long as it doesn’t become the next Starving, but I’m hoping it recovers soon.

– Before introducing Honest, Charlie Puth mentioned that while The Chainsmokers were making music, their computer crashed and they had to start all over again. I’ve had many experiences myself when I was working on something important, and I had to start over for the same reason. But lo and behold, it turned out well for them as they became the artist they are today.

– All of our debuts from last week took some big jumps, with Sorry Not Sorry taking a New-York-Giants-sized jump this week into the Top 20. I have a slight feeling that Hits 1 is going to keep this around for a long while.

– So, Strip That Down has made its way into the Top 5. Unfortunately, I don’t find this song any better than some of the other One Direction songs. That’s just me, though. But if anything, I’ll take it over Body Like A Back Road any day.

– And finally, we come to our #1! It’s good to see There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back taking the top spot once again! I was expecting Despacito to take over this week with how much I’ve been hearing it lately (and the fact that’s it’s going after the record on Billboard). Still, I have no complaints about our #1 song at all.

Hit-Bound

Portugal, The Man – Feel It Still (DEBUT)
Halsey – Bad At Love
Andy Grammer – Give Love
Cheat Codes featuring Demi Lovato – No Promises
Imagine Dragons – Thunder
Sabrina Carpenter – Why (DEBUT)
Ed Sheeran – Galway Girl
Macklemore featuring Skylar Grey – Glorious
The All American Rejects – Sweat
Selena Gomez – Fetish (DEBUT)
Harry Styles – Two Ghosts
Rita Ora – Your Song
Zedd featuring Liam Payne – Get Low
The Revivalists – Wish I Knew You

– To kick off our debuts on Hit-Bound this week, we have more Selena Gomez once again, this time with her new single, Fetish. I pretty much explained in my previous post why I don’t like this song. Even though Hits 1 edited out Gucci Mane’s verse, it still not that good of a song. I’m sure she can do better.

– Next we have a song that is currently gaining steam at this moment, in the form of Feel It Still by Portugal, The Man. There’s nothing really I can say about this right now except I do think the songs is okay.

– Finally, we have Sabrina Carpenter with her single Why. Earlier this year, she had Thumbs which made the Hits 1 playlist, but never debuted on any weekend shows. While it’s not quite as good as her predecessor, I can get into this.

My Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Ed Sheeran – Galway Girl
2. Macklemore featuring Skylar Grey – Glorious
3. Halsey – Bad At Love

Songs That Debuted This Week One Year Ago:
Kenny Chesney featuring P!NK – Setting The World On Fire: This was definitely one of the better country songs out there than what we’re getting right now. While it wasn’t exactly one of my favorites, it was still an interesting collaboration that turned out well.
The Chainsmokers featuring Halsey – Closer: It was exactly one year ago that this song made its debut. It broke all kinds of records (on Billboard & streaming services). It’s their biggest hit of their career. I fell in love with the production & Halsey’s vocals. I’m very pleased that this became a hit!
Coldplay – Hymn For The Weekend: Ah, yes. Adrian’s #1 song of 2016, and for good reason. I absolutely love the production, and both vocals from Beyoncé & Chris Martin were excellent. Hits 1 did play the SeeB remix during its entire tenure, but it’s nothing compared to the original, which is a masterpiece. I’m glad Hits 1 treated it better, spending most of its tenure in the Top 10.

Biggest Drop Of The Week: Issues by Julia Michaels (-13)
Biggest Jump Of The Week: Praying by Kesha (+8)

New Entrants
– We have quite a shake-up in terms of new songs debuting this week.  Let’s kick things off with my least favorite debut this week, with Selena Gomez’s new single titled Fetish which features Gucci Mane.  I can’t really say it’s better than Bad Liar, mainly because I’m not sold on the lyrics.  Now, the only good thing about this is that there’s no whispering and her vocals are slightly better, so I’ll give her that.  But the rest of the song is not that good.  Overall, I’m just not a fan of her new single and I’m hoping she does better.  NEXT!

– Next up, we have Louis Tomlinson who has recently released his new single Back To You, which features Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals.  I’ve haven’t really explained too much on the song, in part because I’ve only heard it a few times.  But now, I’m going into more detail.  I do like the production and the vocals in this song.  Both Louis Tomlinson & Bebe Rexha show that they’ve got talent and there’s plenty of potential for them. The lyrics, which are basically about a back-and-forth relationship, are actually pretty good.  Overall, it’s a good start for Louis Tomlinson himself as a solo artist.

– Then, we have the return of Demi Lovato with her new single Sorry Not Sorry.  I’ve already shared my thoughts on the song, which debuted last week on the Hits 1 Weekend Countdown.  You can read my previous post regarding the song.  But to sum it up, it’s basically a kiss-off to the haters.  Now, I do like that Demi went more EDM in her single.  While her vocals sound great, I’m not necessarily a fan of the chorus because it’s a bit loud.  Everything else about the song is pretty good.  I don’t expect it to stick with me in the long run, but I kinda like this for now.

– Finally, we have easily the best debut of the week (and one of the best songs of the year), and it comes from returning artist Clean Bandit collaborating with Zara Larsson in their single titled Symphony.  For those who don’t know, the song was trending on the YouTube 15 on Hits 1 since earlier this summer.  I’ve explained my thoughts on the song while reviewing the YouTube 15 a couple months ago.  Now, if you don’t know Zara Larsson, she was the one who brought us the amazing Never Forget You last year, which was among my favorite songs of 2016.  But anyway, let’s review the song itself.  Symphony is a big step up from Rockabye.  I’m absolutely in love with both the lyrics & the production, and I’m very impressed with Zara’s vocals.  I definitely love that it has a 90’s vibe to it.  Overall, it’s a great follow-up to Rockabye and it’s a definite contender for my Top 45 Songs of 2017.  I’m not thrilled that it’s starting to lose its popularity elsewhere, but at least it’s here, and it’s very pleasing to see that it made its debut this week.

Will You Blurb Me Tight And Not Let Go?
– As always, we’ll begin with the exits.  First off, we have Love On The Brain which nobody here cares about anymore.  Second, we have Stay Together & Malibu, both of which I was losing interest in (though I’m surprised to see Malibu drop off from a high position).  Finally, there’s Paris, which took a unexpected exit on Hits 1 last week, and today it follows suit on the AT40 as well.  That song will be missed by me.

Issues had the biggest drop of the week for the second week in a row.  Much like on Hits 1, it fell 13 spots and out of the Top 30 altogether.

– I’m very pleased to see Praying being given the Biggest Jump Of The Week this week.  It’s still a amazing song and I’m very glad it’s starting to gain steam.

– However, we have some upsetting drops this week.  Something Just Like This dropped out of the Top 20, while That’s What I Like dropped out of the Top 10.  Here’s to hoping they can try to recover and stay with us for a little longer.

– So, Despacito spends another week at #1, which is not surprising at all.  I have a feeling it’s going to go after the record on Billboard.  Now I won’t necessarily be happy if it breaks the record held by One Sweet Day, but it’s not going to stop me from loving this song though.

#1 Song This Week One Year Ago: Justin Timberlake – Can’t Stop The Feeling (8th Of 10 Weeks At #1)

Biggest DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: Julia Michaels – Issues (-13)
Biggest Jump Of The Week: Tie between AJR – Weak and Luis Fonsi featuring Justin Bieber and Daddy Yankee – Despacito (+14)
New Entrants
– Our first debut this week comes from returning artist Demi Lovato with her new single Sorry Not Sorry. It looks like she’s going with a more EDM production than in her previous singles. It’s basically a kiss-off to the haters.  As for the rest of the song, I do think Demi sounds good here. However, the chorus is a bit of a turn off, in part because it’s a little louder. While it’s no Cool For The Summer, Confident, or even Really Don’t Care for the matter, it’s still a solid song. Overall, I kinda like this for now.

– Anyone tired of The Chainsmokers yet? Well, too bad, because they have replaced themselves with their new single Honest. Now, I won’t quite go there and say it’s as good as its predecessors, but this song show how good Andrew Taggart is at singing. This song is just about wanting to be honest in a relationship. The lyrics do make sense here. Will this be another hit for The Chainsmokers? We’ll have to wait and see, but I can see myself putting this in green soon.

– Last but not least, we have our best debut of the week. After about 4 years, we finally have the return of Kesha with what is probably the best comeback single we’ve have heard all year, which is titled Praying. It’s been a while since we’ve heard new music from her, especially since her lawsuit against Dr. Luke a few years ago. But today, she is back, and I’ll say these four words: this song is epic. Now, I’ll put in more detail. Despite Kesha going with a more piano ballad than an upbeat pop song, she still pulled it off perfectly. It starts off slow, but as the song progresses, we hear the powerful chorus kick in. I’m definitely in love with Kesha’s vocals, the piano is very well done, the lyrics are nearly perfect, and the rest of the production is excellent. From what I’ve heard, many critics are calling it one of the best songs of the year, and I definitely agree. Much like with Katy Perry, I’ve been a fan of her music since the beginning of this decade, with songs such as Tik Tok, We R Who We R, Die Young, and many more. Overall, this is easily one of the best songs of the year and I hope it does well. Making things even better is that it replaces one of the worst songs that many of us have been waiting for to leave. More on that in bit. But again, Praying is a near-flawless comeback single for Kesha, period.
I Hope You’re Somewhere Blurbin’, Blurbin’
– We’ll begin with the exits as always. First off, I’m deeply saddened that we’ve lost both Sooner Or Later and Paris. Of course, Sooner Or Later wasn’t gaining traction elsewhere, so it was not a surprise to see that one leave. However, Paris left sooner than expected, especially from a high position at #28. I thought it was going to stay longer like some of the other songs on the countdown, but I guess I was wrong. Both of these songs will be missed, at least by me. On a positive note, we must now celebrate as Don’t Wanna Know has finally left the countdown! Good riddance! I will not miss you in the slightest!

– Before introducing Stay Together, Spyder Harrison mentioned that Miley Cyrus’s sister Noah is the worst at texting people back. Heh, I mean, really? I don’t think you’re going to get many friends when you treat people like this, but I guess that’s her personality.

– Before introducing Crying In The Club, Spyder Harrison mentioned that Camila Cabello wants to go to Rio with her friends. He also mentioned that she hasn’t been on vacation in such a long time. I guess when you’re a celebrity, you don’t get as many vacations, sadly.

– I would appreciate if Starving were to leave soon. It has been here for a long time and not that many people enjoy this song anymore (except for WAMB10). As much as I really love Haliee Steinfeld as an artist, this song comes nowhere near her best work. Here’s to hoping she does better.

– Before introducing Sign Of The Times, Spyder Harrison mentioned that during an interview with Mikey Piff, Harry Styles has said that the members of One Direction being successful as solo artists was the best thing that’s ever happened to them. I’ll say that’s some pretty kind words from him, in part because Harry and its members were basically like a family.

– I’m thrilled to see Closer still here. It’s one week away from lasting a year on the countdown. C’mon, voters!  Let’s make it happen!

– Before introducing I’m The One, Spyder Harrison mentioned that after canceling the rest of his tour, Justin Bieber was just chilling and relaxing. At one point, he was watching the PGA Championship. Now that my friends, is a good way to rest from all that touring he’s been doing lately.

– All of the songs from #35-#31 (excluding our debuts) held their positions this week.

– I’m not necessarily pleased to see Weak make a shocking jump back into the Top 30. I’m very close to putting it in red, so I’m hoping it drops back down soon.

– Before introducing The Cure, Spyder Harrison mentioned that Lady Gaga actually served as a substitute teacher for a local middle school. That sounds pretty cool. There’s a YouTube video on that also. I heard this is part of a campaign to raise money for the Born This Way Foundation.

– Before introducing Strip That Down, Spyder Harrison mentioned that when Liam Payne got his haircut, his fans went crazy on social media. Not only that, but I heard his girlfriend likes it, too. It goes to show that he’s still a popular celebrity around the globe.

Despacito made a massive jump into the Top 5 this week. I have a feeling it will hit #1 here, also, given that it’s still gaining ground. I’m hearing that it’ll break the record for most weeks at #1 on Billboard. Question is, will it actually do it? We’ll have to find out.

– Speaking of #1, we have Believer still at the top spot. A part of me wants Despacito to take over now, what with it still dominating the charts now. Still, I don’t mind Believer spending another week at #1 if it wants to.

Hit-Bound

Macklemore featuring Skylar Grey – Glorious

The All American Rejects – Sweat
P!NK – What About Us (DEBUT)
Ed Sheeran – Galway Girl
Cheat Codes featuring Demi Lovato – No Promises (DEBUT)
Imagine Dragons – Thunder
Halsey – Bad At Love (DEBUT)
The Revivalists – Wish I Knew You
Rita Ora – Your Song
Zedd featuring Liam Payne – Get Low
Andy Grammer – Give Love
Bebe Rexha – The Way I Are (Dance With Somebody)
Hey Violet – Hoodie (DEBUT)
Harry Styles – Two Ghosts

– We have quite a shake-up on Hit-Bound with four new songs entering this week. First, we’ll begin with Demi Lovato who replaced herself with her collaboration with Cheat Codes in their single No Promises. I do think the beat drop and their vocals sounds pretty good, even if it’s not their best work thus far. It’s a little closer to green than it is to red. It’ll probably be there with more listens.

– Next up, we have more Halsey, in the form of Bad At Love. Now, this song is quite a big step up from Now Or Never, as her new single has more to it. The production and her vocals sound much better here. More words when it debuts.

– Then, we have Hey Violet once again, this time with their new single Hoodie. Not much I can say about this one, but I’m sure many people will like this one better than Break My Heart and Guys My Age, in part because the vocals sound good here.

– Finally, P!NK has released her comeback single titled What About Us. Now, to put it easy, I’m in love with this song. Sure, it’s not as good as her previous singles, but I can live with this. I’ll say more about this when it debuts soon.

My Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Ed Sheeran – Galway Girl
2. Halsey – Bad At Love
3. P!NK – What About Us
4. Macklemore featuring Skylar Grey – Glorious
5. Imagine Dragons – Thunder

YouTube 15

For this week, I’ve decided to review the YouTube 15. Here are the songs that are trending this week:

Sam Hunt – Body Like A Back Road
Martin Garrix featuring Troye Sivan – There For You
Madison Beer – Dead
DJ Khaled featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller – Wild Thoughts
Charli XCX – Boys
Luis Fonsi featuring Justin Bieber and Daddy Yankee – Despacito
Alan Walker featuring Gavin James – Tired
Ed Sheeran – Shape Of You
Jax Jones featuring Demi Lovato and Stefflon Don – Instruction
Charlie Puth – Attention
Rudimental featuring James Arthur – Sun Comes Up
Bruno Mars – That’s What I Like
Camila Cabello featuring Young Thug – Havana
DJ Khaled featuring Justin Bieber and Chance the Rapper – I’m The One
Dua Lipa – New Rules

– I’m not even going to comment on the fact that Body Like A Back Road somehow made it to the YouTube 15. Out of all the country songs out there, this one had to gain popularity.

– I’m not a fan of Camila Cabello’s new single Havana, which features Young Thug. It has the same generic rapping that flooding the charts nowadays, and Camila Cabello’s somewhat decent vocals can’t save this song from me putting it in red. Overall, it’s not her best choice for her next single. NEXT!

– I can’t really say I’m a fan of Madison Beer’s single, which is titled Dead. While her vocals sound good, the rest of the song is underwhelming to say the least. I personally think there are better songs out there.

Charli XCX released a new single titled Boys. While it’s a step up from the terrible After The Afterparty, it’s still nothing when compared to Boom Clap. The vocals and production aren’t all that good. It’s closer to red than it is to green.

– Next we have more Demi Lovato once again, this time collaborating with Jax Jones and Stefflon Don with their latest single Instruction. Now, it’s slightly better than some of the other songs mentioned above, but I’m not really a fan of Demi’s super fast vocals, which makes it hard for me to understand the lyrics. I’m sure she’s done better.

Dua Lipa has recently released her new single titled New Rules. I don’t quite think it’s as good as Blow Your Mind (Mwah), but I still like it for what it is. I wonder will this actually be a huge hit for her? I’m hoping so.

– Probably the best new song trending right now is Sun Comes Up, which is sung by returning artist James Arthur collaborating with Rudimental. This song showcases James Arthur’s vocals and he’s proven that he can sing. I do like the EDM production Rudimental has put together. Overall, I think this a great song for both artists and I’m hoping it keeps trending for a little longer.

– I’m actually not surprised to see Shape Of You and That’s What I Like still trending, especially considering they’re still somewhat popular. Despacito making the list is also not surprising; it’s still gaining enormous popularity and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. And that’s perfectly fine by me as I still enjoy this song a lot lately.

My Top 5 YouTube 15 Picks
1. Luis Fonsi featuring Justin Bieber and Daddy Yankee – Despacito
2. DJ Khaled featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller – Wild Thoughts
3. Bruno Mars – That’s What I Like
4. Rudimental featuring James Arthur – Sun Comes Up
5. Charlie Puth – Attention

Songs That Debuted This Week One Year Ago:
Fifth Harmony – All In My Head (Flex): This is quite a cool single, especially during the summer when going to the beach. The girls actually sound better than they did in Work From Home. It’s too bad Hits 1 edited out the vocals from Fetty Wap, who actually contributes to the song. That said, I kinda wish it did better than only lasting 5 weeks here.
TWENTY ØNE PILØTS – Heathens: Taken from the Suicide Squad movie soundtrack, this song got mixed reactions from the blogging community. However, I definitely enjoyed the new sound when compared to other songs such as Tear In My Heart, Stressed Out, & Ride. I’m very pleased that this became another big hit for this band and I’m hoping they make some more singles like this soon.

New Entrants
– Our first of two entrants comes from Khalid with his new single Location.  Honestly, I don’t get what people like about this song.  It’s just another boring rap song that doesn’t get my attention.  I’m not a fan of his vocals at all, and the lyrics are just as bad.  Here’s to hoping it leaves soon.  NEXT!

– Finally, we have the return of Kesha with her new single titled Praying.  It’s been a long while since we’ve heard new music from her, in part because of her lawsuit against Dr. Luke.  But today, she’s back at making music.  Now, despite this single being a slow ballad, this is the best comeback single for Kesha and probably the best we’ve had all year.  I’ll talk more about this on the Hits 1 Weekend Countdown when it debuts there.

I Had To Learn How To Blurb For Myself
– I don’t know about you, but I’m so ready for both Congratulations to leave already.  Seriously, his vocals are grating and it’s only gotten worse after each listen.

– I’m quite surprised to see Rockabye still on this countdown.  It may have lost its popularity a long time ago, but I don’t really mind if it stays for another week or so.

– Of course, Body Like A Back Road would jump big this week.  I really hate that this song is still getting popular when there are better country songs out there.

– As far as our exits go this week, I’m sad about HUMBLE. leaving.  Bad Liar, on the other hand, I’m thrilled to see it leave, though I’m quite shocked that it left from a really high position at #15.  If I’m correct, this is the highest drop off in AT 40 history.

Extras/Optional Extras

Here, I’ll list the songs that have played as either an Extra or Optional Extra.  Below is the color code I will use:

Purple – Best Song
Green – Great

Know No Better by Major Lazer featuring Travis Scott, Camila Cabello, and Quavo
Sorry Not Sorry by Demi Lovato
Symphony by Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson
