New Entrants
– Our only entrant this week comes from NF with the song titled Let You Down from his new album, Perception. I can’t really say I’m fond of this one. Probably the best thing about it is the lyrical content, which talks about a father & son relationship. I do like how NF can tell a story about what he went through. But there’s not too much else about this song that’s worth caring about. And was it necessary to have the pitchy vocals blend in with his vocals? Not really, plus I don’t really like how he delivers it in my opinion. At least with 7 Years, another song that talks about a father & son relationship, Lukas Graham showed some emotion. But when listening to the song in full, NF doesn’t really show any of that, and again, the pitchy vocals aren’t much help either. So yeah, to put it short, I’m just simply not a fan. While it’s in blue for now, it’s closer to red than it is green. It’ll probably be there within the next week or so.
I’m Sorry That I Let You Blurb
– Let’s begin with our exit. This is the second week in a row in which a song leaves us after spending only one week. With He Like That making its departure and considering people are getting tired of Fifth Harmony, it’s pretty safe to say that they won’t have another hit anytime soon.

– Before introducing It Ain’t Me, Ryan Seacrest mentioned that Selena Gomez took some time off because of health problems.

– Beofre introducing Young, Dumb, and Broke, Ryan Seacrest mentioned that Khalid actually met Drake at some point in time. I’ll bet he was really happy to met him while traveling around the world. It’ll be interesting to see if these two do a collaboration someday. I wonder how that will work out?

– So, Ryan Seacrest mentioned during his introduction for Stay that the Backstreet Boys are actually working on a new album. And guess what? One of the artists mentioned was Zedd. Sounds like there may be a collaboration in the works.

– And Look What You Made Me Do continues its free-fall. This time, it’s out of the Top 20 for good. Also, I never mention this, but I would like to say her new album, reputation, nearly broke records on Billboard. So, congrats Taylor Swift!

– Of course, Rockstar had to take a big jump this week into the Top 20. Along with it, we have Mi Gente entering that region. Honestly, both of those songs are extremely annoying, the latter especially. As for Rockstar, I pretty much have to get used to it being here for a long while.

– We have both Bad At Love and Havana making their entry in the Top 10 this week. The latter I’m not surprised about, since that one is gaining and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. As for the former, I’ve underestimated by how well Bad At Love would do on the charts. We’ll see how it continues its upward trajectory.

– On that note, Thunder also continues it ascent by hitting a new peak at #4. I have a feeling this could be our next #1 here on the AT40, given that it’s still a monster in sales. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if it happens soon.

– While we’re on that subject, we’ve finally come to our new #1! 1-800-273-8255 has managed to achieve #1 this week, and I’m indeed really happy about that! To me, it’s definitely a standout track unlike some of the other songs currently on the charts. Also, here’s a bit of history: Ryan Seacrest mentioned that this is the first song with a telephone number as the title to make it to #1. So, congrats to Logic and Khalid on getting their well-deserved first #1!

Songs That Debuted This Week One Year Ago:
So, I’ve decided to do this for every post on the AT40. The color code will be the same as I did for other things unrelated to the countdown. You can check the sidebar for reference. But just in case you need it, here it is:

Purple – Best Song
Green – Great
Blue – Good
Pink – Decent
Yellow – Mediocre
Turquoise – Bad
Red – Putrid
Orange – Worst Song

Ain’t My Fault by Zara Larsson: Not as good as her other singles, but at least Zara shows that she has great vocals. It’s too bad that after Never Forget You, this, along with her successors, never caught on to the audience in the U.S.
Mercy by Shawn Mendes: This is basically a better version of Treat You Beter, except with deeper lyrical content and he uses more instruments here. I’ll talk more about this in my Year-End Posts soon.
Love On The Brain by Rihanna: Personally, I feel like if Rihanna had better vocals, this would be more likable. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. Sorry, but her vocals alone bring the song down for me.

Imagine Dragons (2) – Week Of November 25, 2017

Hello, guys! Happy Thanksgiving to you all, and I hope enjoyed your Thanksgiving! Spyder Harrison actually hosted the Thanksgiving Day Edition of the Weekend Countdown. New Entrants

– To kick off this week’s new arrivals, we have a debut that I was not looking forward to at all. This is one that I’m sure many of you are expecting me to thrash big time. Post Malone makes his first-ever appearance on the countdown along with newcomer 21 Savage with the song called Rockstar. If I’m being honest, I never thought Hits 1 would pick up a song of this caliber, seeing as they don’t care for rap/hip-hop. But alas, here it is. When I first talked about Body Like A Back Road, a song that continues to test my patience (and many others as well), when it debuted back in June, I’ve said that it is an embarrassment to the country genre. I won’t rant anymore about that song right now. I’ve pretty much said what I needed to say about Body Like A Back Road (at least until I do my Year-End posts). Let’s just get into reviewing Rockstar. This song is another representation of just how bad the quality of rap music has been in recent years. I’m pretty sure you can figure out why I don’t like it. The production is flat-out bad across the board, the lyrical content is really stupid like all of today’s rap music, and the vocals, while somewhat tolerable, aren’t good. I am honestly just as shocked as you are that Hits 1 would pick up something like this. The fact that it has spent 6 annoying weeks at #1 on Billboard is very disappointing, and unfortunately it’s destined to spend another week there (and maybe more, since the music video has just dropped). That alone is bad enough, but making matters much, MUCH worse is that we have song even worse than Rockstar that I won’t mention currently sitting at #3 has the potential to be the next #1 in the near future. At this point in time, I really start to question why America is making these two big hits when they’re horrible on so many levels. I don’t care if it’s streaming that made them this way, and I don’t even care if it’s doing well in sales. Either way, it’s making the rap genre look bad, and it’s sad because I used to like rap music. But time and time again, it’s all the same because of either the stupid lyrical content, the lazy production, or both. It really makes me sad that people would prefer to listen to this over the lovely Rachel Platten, whose album just recently came out last month mind you. Or Lorde, who had an amazing lead single which not only failed to graduate Hit-Bound, but was a huge flop elsewhere, along with the rest of her sophomore album. Or maybe Carly Rae Jepsen, who’s music is great but is severely underrated for whatever reason still unbeknownst to me. Or maybe someone like Ellie Goulding perhaps. Heck, I’ll even take Meghan Trainor for the matter. Sorry everyone, but as strange as it may seem, I’d much rather, and I’m going to emphasize: I’D MUCH RATHER have Meghan Trainor flood the charts than these two songs sitting at #3 and #1 (though, I’ll admit her last album wasn’t good). That’s saying a whole lot. I’m sorry guys if this is a long rant, but I felt it was necessary. Anyway, I’ve pretty much said enough about this song, and seeing as Hits 1 does not care for rap or hip-hop, it looks destined to not last long. Hopefully, I am right because this song is just a dumpster fire.

– On a more positive note, there’s a debut that I’m sure many of you expected to happen, and it’s much, MUCH better than the debut that I just finished talking about. I’m very pleased to see that it’s the highest debut of the week. Selena Gomez makes her return once more. Making its debut at #20, her new single is titled Wolves, which features Marshmello, a new EDM artist trying to make his presence known in the music business. As far as Selena Gomez goes in terms of her music, it has been quite a mixed bag for many. Earlier this year, she brought us her amazing collaboration with Kygo in It Ain’t Me. But after that, she also brought us Bad Liar and Fetish, both of which were very disappointing singles to say the least. When I first heard that she was doing a collaboration with Marshmello, I’m sure many had low expectations coming in, especially after they were jaded big time by her two awful songs I just mentioned. I myself pretty much felt the same way. In fact, even before she seemed to go downhill with her music (with the exception of It Ain’t Me), some have questioned the quality of her music, especially after her last album, Revival, was seen by some as just simply not a good album. After listening to Wolves in full, I was impressed with how it turned out. Based on my initial reaction, I felt this was a good song and I had said that this is something that Selena Gomez should be doing at this point in time, and not her sultry tracks that I just talked about. However, after repeated listens and paying more attention to the lyrics, I have fallen madly in love with the song. I’ll make it simple: this song is amazing. IT IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Simply put, this song is divine in every sense of the word. Let me be honest for a second: Selena is definitely a talented artist and she does have a great voice. It’s just a matter of how she uses it and overall, she does an excellent job here. Her vocals are absolutely spot on, especially in the chorus where she shines. Some of the other great things about this song is the pre-chorus leading up to the chorus. And then after the chorus comes the best part about the song: the beat drop. The recently released music video for this song may not seem like much, but I’ve got to say, she looks stunning. In terms of the lyrical content, it talks about a journey to love, basically what Selena has been doing recently. If you’ve been keeping up with social media, you’ve probably have heard stories about her relationship with The Weeknd, who have since split and now has started to hang out with Justin Bieber. Heh, I’m guessing it’s been quite a struggle for Selena to find a long-term relationship. Hopefully, she can be able to pick and choose the right man. Anyway, this song is near-flawless from start to finish and is easily the best debut of the week by a landslide. While it unfortunately isn’t eligible for My Top 45 Songs of 2017, it’s an early front-runner for my best song of 2018 so far. I’m overjoyed to see it graduate from Hit-Bound and make the countdown, and I’m hoping it can do well because frankly, it deserves it.

I’ve Been Blurbing With The Wolves To Get To You

– So, we say good-bye to two songs: one of which was not popular elsewhere, and the other was a flop. Sweat had been a grower for me the first few weeks it was here, and I had just started to slightly enjoy it. Given that The All-American Rejects have not been relevant since their last big hit, I shouldn’t be surprised to see this one go. The other exit is Friends. I thought Justin Bieber was going to have another hit, but it did not catch on to the audience and it instead decided to flop. With many are still sick of him especially after they were jaded big time by Despacito getting overplayed, I probably should’ve seen it coming.

– It was expected that Thunder would reclaim the top spot sooner or later, given that it’s still a monster in both sales & radio. But hey, I’m cool with it, since I still enjoy this song.

– Meanwhile, Bad At Love has reached a new peak at #2. While I prefer some other songs in the Top 5, I do see some potential in it reaching the spot at some point. I underestimated by how well this would do on the charts. I think Bad At Love is a better choice for #1 over her predecessor, Now Or Never. So if this hits #1, I’ll be okay with it.

– Next in line, we have Perfect holding at #3. I was thinking it would be #1 after that big jump last week, but I was proven wrong. Still, I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up getting there, since it’s sales are gaining and it’s gaining traction on radio as well. Plus, Hits 1 still loves to play some Ed Sheeran, so it helps.

– For the second week in a row, we have two Top 5 entrants this week. The first being Havana, which was honored the Biggest Jump Of The Week for the second time during its tenure. After struggling for the first few weeks after its debut, it has managed to gain some ground. It’s good to see this one becoming Camila’s biggest hit thus far into her solo career.

– Our other Top 5 entrant comes from What Lovers Do. It was destined to enter that region eventually, given that most Maroon 5 singles have been in the Top 5. I won’t be too surprised if this hits #1, and I’ll be perfectly fine with it, since it’s better than the other two representations they had earlier this year.

– Ouch! This didn’t last long; What About Us dropped out of the Top 5 very quickly after hitting #1, much like Sorry Not Sorry did last week. I guess Hits 1 though 1 week at #1 for these songs were too much, heh.

– It’s hard to believe that Believer is still in the Top 20, given that it lost popularity a long time ago. Also, Spyder Harrison mentioned upon its introduction that Dan Reynolds talked about sexual harassment during his speech at the American Music Awards. It’s good to see someone speak out about the issue, especially since it’s been popping up on the news in recent weeks.

– Before introducing Let Me Go, Spyder Harrison mentioned that Hailee Steinfeld has her birthday coming up and yet, she hasn’t decided on what to do for her celebration. I’m guessing she wants to do something big. Maybe throw a big party, perhaps?

– The guest DJ that introduced Feel It Still gave a shout-out to her fiancé. She told Spyder Harrsion that they plan on having their wedding next year. I wonder will Spyder attend?

– Before introducing Too Good At Goodbyes, Spyder Harrison mentioned that Sam Smith thanks Rihanna for being an inspiration by being unapologetically herself. It’s nice to see an artist be an inspiration to someone who has made his mark in the music industry. That said, I’m not thrilled about Too Good At Goodbyes taking a shocking big drop out of the Top 10.

– Speaking of drops, this is the first time Save Me A Place is not in the Top 20. It had a good run there while it lasted, so props to that.

– And I Like Me Better is back to square one, as it took a tumble back down to its debut position at #31. That which I’m fine with since it’s just simply not a good song in my opinion.

– Looks like this is the end of 1-800-273-8255 after that big drop down to the bottom 5. While Hits 1 didn’t really treat it as well as I had hoped, at least it made it here, which I’m happy about. Fun fact: this is the second week in a row in which both the Biggest DRRRRRRROP!!! and Jump Of The Week moved the exact same number of spots.

– On that note, our Bottom 5 consists of 3 songs that have been here for a long while, one that wasn’t popular elsewhere, and the other which I talked about was pretty underrated on Hits 1 despite its huge popularity.

Hit-Bound:

UPDATE: Here’s this week’s edition of Hit-Bound:

  • Nick Jonas – Find You
  • X Ambassadors – Ahead Of Myself
  • WØLVES – Animal (DEBUT)
  • Fall Out Boy – Hold Me Tight Or Don’t
  • P!NK – Beautiful Trauma (DEBUT)
  • Bruno Mars – Chunky
  • Clean Bandit featuring Julia Michaels – I Miss You (DEBUT)
  • Harry Styles – Kiwi
  • Macklemore featuring Kesha – Good Old Days
  • Imagine Dragons – Whatever It Takes
  • Liam Payne – Bedroom Floor
  • Taylor Swift featuring Ed Sheeran and Future – End Game (DEBUT)
  • Walk The Moon – One Foot
  • Sofi Tukker – Best Friend

– We had two songs leaving us on Hit-Bound. The first being P!NK featuring Eminem – Revenge, which only spent two weeks here, though I’m sure it’ll be a single somewhere down the road. The other was Taylor Swift – Gorgeous, which was a promo single off of her new album, reputation.
– To start our new round of arrivals, we have newcomer WØLVES making their appearance with their debut single, Animal. This one sounds pretty fun, and I love the production throughout. That’s all I’ve got for this song for right now.
– As one song from P!NK departs from Hit-Bound, another comes to take its place. Enter Beautiful Trauma, the title track off her album and it’s her second single. Right off the bat, her voice shines a little more than its predecessor, and I do like the chorus. Since this is being pushed as her second single, it’s almost certain to debut on the countdown at some point. So I’ll have more words about it later on.
– I’m sure most people here weren’t looking forward to hearing from Julia Michaels again, especially after Issues was not to anyone’s liking and Uh Huh thankfully flopped and didn’t take off. Here, she is collaborating with Clean Bandit in their single titled I Miss You. It wasn’t too long ago since we’ve heard from Clean Bandit, what with Rockabye becoming a big hit earlier this year. Much like I talked about with Wolves when it made its debut, this is something Julia Michaels should be doing at this point, given she’s not that good of a solo artist (at least not yet). She sounds much better in this track, and the production is solid too. I’ll talk more about it should it make the countdown.
– Finally, we come to possibly the next single off of Taylor Swift’s new album, reputation. Enter End Game, which features Ed Sheeran and Future. I’m sure many are cringing about Future being included in this track, and I am too, given that most of Future’s music reeks. When I first heard about a possible collaboration between these two artists, I was afraid of what I was getting into. To say the least, after listening to this song in full, it’s actually not bad. Future actually sounds decent. And I do love how their vocals blend together. With this being the next single, it’s going to debut on the countdown soon. So, I’ll talk much more about this later on.
– So, I decided to give Best Friend another listen, and there was something about this song worth mentioning. It kinda sounds like the theme song from The Fairly Oddparents TV series, which I used to watch back in the day. Probably one of my favorite cartoons back then.
My Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Bruno Mars – Chunky
2. Macklemore featuring Kesha – Good Old Days
3. Imagine Dragons – Whatever It Takes
4. Taylor Swift featuring Ed Sheeran and Future – End Game
5. Walk The Moon – One Foot

YouTube 15:

It’s been a while since I’ve done the YouTube 15. Let’s get right into it, shall we? Here are the songs trending this week:
  • Taylor Swift – Look What You Made Me Do
  • Madison Beer – Say It To My Face
  • Avicii featuring Rita Ora – Lonely Together
  • Sam Smith – Too Good At Goodbyes
  • Maggie Lindemann – Obsessed
  • Logic featuring Alessia Cara and Khalid – 1-800-273-8255
  • Steve Aoki featuring Lauren Jauregui – All Night
  • Ed Sheeran – Perfect
  • Calvin Harris featuring Kehlani and Lil’ Yatchy – Faking It
  • Taylor Swift – …Ready For It?
  • Jack & Jack – Beg
  • Imagine Dragons – Thunder
  • Alan Walker featuring Noah Cyrus and Digital Farm Animals – All Falls Down
  • Camila Cabello – Havana
  • Parson James – Only You
– First off, we’ll begin with Madison Beer with her new single titled Say It To My Face. I’ll say that it’s better than her predecessor, in part because I like the acoustic guitar in this one, and there’s a little more going on in terms of the production.
– Next, we have Maggie Lindemann with her new single titled Obsessed. To say the least, it’s pretty fun and upbeat. I do love the groove in this one. That’s all I’ve got right now.
– We have more Steve Aoki, this time collaborating with Fifth Harmony member Lauren Jauregui in their new single, All Night. Let me be straight up right now: this song is absolutely FANTASTIC in EVERY sense of the word, period. I love Lauren’s vocals all throughout, and the production is very well done. Steve Aoki impress yet again, much like with his previous single, Just Hold On. Both of these artists have managed to win me over with this song.
– Next up, we have Jack & Jack with the song called Beg. Right off the bat, I can’t I really care for this one, mainly because of the production. However, I do like their vocals. While it’s not bad, I’ve heard better.
Noah Cyrus is back again. This time, she’s collaborating with Alan Walker and Digital Farm Animals in the song titled All Falls Down. Really, it’s Noah’s vocals that bring the song down for me some, though she has slightly improved since the rotten Again, which thankfully did not become a hit. Everything else about this one is pretty solid, though.
– Finally, we come to Parson James with Only You. I do somewhat like the guy’s vocals, and the lyrical content is pretty decent. While not as upbeat as some of the other songs, at least this is one I can listen to every once in a while.
– So, I recently watched the music video for Ed Sheeran – Perfect, and…it was pretty good overall. It tells a story about him falling in love with the girl. I like the ending when they finally get together.
My Top 5 YouTube 15 Picks
1. Steve Aoki featuring Lauren Jauregui – All Night
2. Taylor Swift – …Ready For It?
3. Logic featuring Alessia Cara and Khalid – 1-800-273-8255
4. Avicii featuring Rita Ora – Lonely Together
5. Imagine Dragons – Thunder

Songs That Debuted This Week One Year Ago:
Train – Play That Song: Sorry, Train, but no one wants to play a song that is just as stiff all around as the horrible Hey, Soul Sister. Honestly, I’d much prefer when they did songs like Drive By and 50 Ways To Say Goodbye

My Bottom 10 Songs Of 2016

Hello, friends! Remember last month when I did my Top 10 songs of 2016? Yeah, if you missed it, you can check it out here. Today, I’m going to be counting down my Bottom 10 Songs of 2016 and I’ll explain why I thought these songs were bad. As I said, 2016 was simply not a great year for music in general by many critics. There were so many mediocre to bad music being released. However, none can compare to some of the other music that was horrific from the start, and I’ll dive right into them. But first, there are some of the few dishonorable mentions:

Calvin Harris featuring Rihanna – This Is What You Came For
This is a song that I actually really liked when it first dropped. If I’m being honest, I was astounded by the hate it received by some, until I started to pay more attention to everyone else’s takes on it and that was then I came to the realization of just how underwhelming this song is in general. To put it easy, it’s one of those basic EDM songs with an underwhelming beat drop, and Rihanna repeating the word “you” many times throughout doesn’t make it any better, hence why some call this the worst EDM song of 2016. While I may have liked their previous collaboration with We Found Love, I just can’t with this anymore. I know these two can do better. Sorry.

Future featuring The Weeknd – Low Life
The Weeknd has made a handful of songs I like, but unfortunately this isn’t one of them. Let me be straight up: Future sucks, period. The production is lazy, the lyrics are stupid, and Future’s vocals don’t sit well with me at all. I’m sorry, but I can’t with this.

Symon – Say
Though this song didn’t chart elsewhere, I’m putting this here because it was actually on Hits 1 and made it to the countdown. But yeah, to put it short, this is not how you make a good first impression. Her vocals are okay, but my goodness, this song is so repetitive. And not helping is that the rap breakdown in the bridge, especially after the second chorus. Yeah, her rapping skills are pathetic, as well as the rest of the song. It’s a good thing she’s hosting the Hits 1 in Hollywood. Moving on.

Meghan Trainor – Me Too
Ah yes, almost most every music’s most hated song of 2016. I’m sure many of you were expecting me to place this as my #1 worst song of last year, or even put it in the Bottom 5. Sorry to disappoint many of you, but I think differently. Yes, I know. This song is just a mess, but there was something about it that made me like it to the point where it was a big guilty pleasure of mine from last year. I just can’t put my finger on it. Still, It wasn’t long until I started to turn on it like most people. But yeah, I’m hoping Meghan Trainor can improve from there.

Now, with all the dishonorable mentions out of the way, I now present to you my Bottom 10 songs of 2016. These songs I’m about to list (along with my thoughts) were so bad, I can’t stand any of them. Let’s get right into it. Here we go!

10. Post Malone – White Iverson
Post Malone’s first foray into music, and to be blunt, not a good one at that. This is one of many examples of how not to make a good first impression as an artist. The production is lazy across the board, and his vocals are just outright bad. It does have some funny lines, though, and I’ll give him that. But overall, this is not a good first impression. SKIP THIS!

9. Jacob Sartorious – Hit Or Miss
You know, I’ll never understand why Jacob Sartorious is trying to get so much recognition. If I’m being honest, he is pretty much the male version of Rebecca Black. Right off the bat, his is slightly better than its predecessor, but only by a very little bit. Still, I can’t deny that this song still sucks. He’s trying to rap in his verses, and it doesn’t work. I absolutely hate the beat drop and the production. And that’s not even his worst song. But again, this still blows. SKIP THIS!

8. Jacob Sartorious – Sweatshirt
Need another reason why Jacob Sartorious is basically the male version of Rebecca Black? Look no further than this one. In fact, this is even worse than its successor. I’m going to make it simple: Jacob Sartorious just cannot sing, period! His vocals are beyond obnoxious. He basically sounds like a little kid. In fact, it makes me cringe every time I hear his voice. It sucks. Plus, the lyrical content doesn’t make the song any better either. Yeah, this blows. PASS!

7. Daya – Sit Still, Look Pretty
It’s not Daya herself that makes this song so bad (her vocals are actually decent); it’s the meaning and the lyrical content that kills it for me. It talks about how she’s going to rule the world and not wanting to sit and look pretty. As I mentioned, some of the lyrics just don’t really make sense to me. To put it easy, Daya just needs to either work on her songwriting skills, or better yet, get some better songwriters for her music. I did like it when it was new. But today, not so much anymore.

6. Charlie Puth – One Call Away
There was no doubt in my mind that Charlie Puth was going to end up having another hit at some point in time, following the success of See You Again and the absolutely rotten Marvin Gaye. This song is just as bad as its predecessor in the awful Nine Track Mind. He doesn’t showcase his vocals very well. And no, Charlie; you’re no Superman. I may like slow ballads, but this isn’t one of them. Sorry.

5. Rihanna featuring Drake – Work
Don’t get me wrong, Rihanna and Drake both have made some good collaborations, such as What’s My Name? and Take Care. But Work, however, is a different story. When looking at this song in detail, it has virtually no good qualities whatsoever. Here, you have Rihanna repeating the word, “work”, many times throughout the song, and she’s doing it at a much faster pace, making it hard to understand what she is saying. Drake doesn’t add anything to the song, either. And don’t even get me started on the production, because it is poorly done. Overall, this song is simply just a giant mess across the board. NEXT!

4. Zay Hilfigerrr featuring Zayion McCall – Juju On That Beat
You know, I absolutely loathe when newcomers in the rap genre make songs like this one a hit in America. This song is another example of just how bad the quality of the rap music has been recently. Easily the worst thing about this song is the lyrical content, period. The vocals are annoying as well. Simply put, it’s another awful rap song that I don’t really need to explain. NEXT!

3. Fifth Harmony featuring Ty Dolla $ign – Work From Home
Blech. This is probably the worst single Fifth Harmony has released to date. Like Rihanna featuring Drake – Work, this is another song that uses the word, “work”. The production here is virtually nonexistent to the point where it’s just unbearable and the lyrical content is really stupid all throughout. Not only that, but Ty Dolla $ign doesn’t contributing to any part of the song whatsoever. I can’t believe I actually really liked this at first. I should’ve listened to the YouTube critics on this one back then. I’m glad I did, because this song is just pure garbage. Yeah, there’s no way for me to defend this. NEXT!

2. Kiiara – Gold
Described by some as a “mash-up” of itself, this song is one of the few perfect examples of how not to make a good first impression as a artist. Many music critics explained this one in great detail, and they couldn’t be more right. But I’ll try to do the best I can with this one. To put it short, everything about this song just blows from the top down bottom up. The choppy obnoxious vocals, the dull sentiment, and the poorly-written lyrical content makes this my #2 worst song of 2016. The fact that this actually caught on to the public drives me off the wall. How this somehow became a hit, I’ll never understand. Moving on.

1. Desiigner – Panda
Blech. I don’t really know how to describe this. This is probably one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard in my entire life. My goodness, is this song so rotten on many levels. Again, words cannot describe just how bad it is. I’ll do the best I can on reviewing this. This song is basically an embarrassment to the rap genre. His vocals are beyond obnoxious to the point where I can’t stand to hear it. I can’t even understand a thing he’s saying at all. The lyrical content is garbage, the production is beyond dreadful, and the premise is dull and uninteresting. And that’s not even the worst of it. The worst thing about this song to me is the vocal effects. They make me cringe every time I hear it. Like most rap songs, how this became a #1 hit, whether it’s through streaming or something else, I’ll never understand. Here’s to hoping we don’t anymore songs like this because it is just crap.

Whew! And there you have it!  These are my Top 10 worst songs of 2016. Thanks again for reading, everybody. Let me know in the comments section about what you guys think of the list I just made. I hope you guys enjoy! Oh, and Happy early Thanksgiving!

P!NK (1) – Week Of November 18, 2017

Hello, fam! It’s been a busy week for me this week. Honestly, I’m just so tired I’m ready for the holidays to get here. Plus, it is cold where I am right now. Speaking of which, Thanksgiving is next week, and Christmas is fast approaching. What is the weather like where you live? What are your plans for the holidays? Let me know in the comments section below. Enough about that; the reason I’m here is to review music. To make it simple, this week was divine in every sense of the word. Biggest Jump Of The Week: Portugal. The Man – Feel It Still (+10)

New Entrants

– Our lone entrant this week comes from a new band, whose name is The Shadowboxers, making their first-ever appearance on the countdown with the song titled Hot Damn. And guess what? They’re actually a band that was founded in my hometown of Atlanta. Cool stuff! Anyway, I just briefly talked about the song itself last week when it was still on Hit-Bound. I’m quite surprised to see it graduate and make it to the countdown given that it’s not gaining popularity elsewhere (at least not right now). Onto the song itself. The production here is pretty cool, and it has some throwback vibes. Looking at the lyrical content, it’s basically another one of those love songs we’ve been accustomed to. Is it me, or does the vocalist sound a little bit like The Weeknd? It’s a cool song overall. We’ll see how long it can stay with us.

So Now I Come To You, With Open Blurbs

– So, we say good-bye to It Ain’t Me. And while some will find you old & annoying at this point, I’m among those who will be grieving its departure. Thank you for serving us well on this countdown. You will be remembered.

– If I’m being honest, I wasn’t expecting P!NK to hit #1 with What About Us, but I’m most certainly take it. And hey, it gives me another reason to not look up Ed Sheeran pictures for another week. This is another song that just keeps getting better for me with each listen. And I’m sure a certain someone I won’t mention will be happy about this week’s #1, also. If it weren’t for Praying, then this would’ve been in purple for me.

– As far as the rest of the Top 5 goes, we have quite a shift in terms of new songs entering. For starters, we have Perfect making it back into that region after dropping out last week. Then, you have …Ready For It? entering for the first time, given the hype behind Taylor Swift’s new album, reputation.

– There is also change for the rest of the Top 10 as well. While What Lovers Do makes its re-entry in that territory, we have Let Me Go taking a unexpected jump this week. Could this potentially be the next Starving? I hope so, but we’ll see what happens from here on out.

– In terms of other unexpected jumps, we have Feel It Still making a nice recovery. It’s almost like that big drop from last week never happened. Plus, this just reclaimed the #1 spot on the AT40 this week.

– I’m not too thrilled about the second-week jump from I Like Me Better. However, we do have One More Light making another entrance into the Top 30. I’ll take that over the former any day.

– The guest DJ that introduced Stay gave a shout-out to all of her grandkids (and everyone else in her family). Very nice. We don’t hear grandmothers making their appearance as guest DJ’s that often.

– Looks like this is the end of the road for Despacito seeing as it tumbled down near the bottom 5. While I know for sure people are going to be throwing a be-gone party over that one when it leaves, I am not among those who will be attending. Sorry to those who have soured on it, but I still enjoy this song. Also, before introducing Despacito, Spyder Harrison talked about Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez getting back together and Selena’s past relationship with The Weeknd. I’m guessing Selena just can’t make up her mind about who she wants to be with, heh.

– And one last thing: I AM HAPPY TO SAY THAT BODY LIKE A BACK ROAD WAS ANNOUNCED AS THE “BIGGEST DRRRRRRROP!!! OF THE WEEK”!!! YES YES YES YES YES!!! LET US REJOICE!!! 😀

Songs That Debuted This Week One Year Ago:
Martin Garrix featuring Bebe Rexha – In The Name Of Love: This EDM song is absolutely divine in every sense of the word. Bebe’s powerful vocal performance is easily the best thing about it. It’s too bad this didn’t become a huge hit I wanted to be and it’s unfortunately going to miss the Billboard Year-End List of 2017.

    AT40: Portugal. The Man (2) – Week Of November 18, 2017

Hello, guys! Sorry, if this post was out a little late. I was busy all day yesterday. Anyway, not too much I can say about this week. All I can say is the end of the year is fast approaching, so I’ve still working on some of my Year-End reviews. So without further ado, we say good-bye to these songs dropping out this week:

    • Find You by Nick Jonas
Last Week: #39 | # Of Weeks On Chart: 1

    • Something Just Like This by The Chainsmokers featuring Coldplay [Spent 1 Week At #1]
Last Week: #40 | # Of Weeks On Chart: 35

    The Countdown:

    New Entrants
    – I wasn’t really looking forward to hearing more from Fifth Harmony, and I’m sure many of you weren’t either. But alas, here they are debuting this week with He Like That. This song is a bit of a step up from Down. It does have more of a reggae vibe to it, which is interesting, but the lyrics leave something to be desired. I can see it being a grower, though I don’t really expect too much success out of this song seeing as it failed to gain any sort of steam.

    – As Feels pretty much died out elsewhere, Calvin Harris has another new single in its stead. Enter Faking It, which features Kehlani and Lil’ Yatchy. Right off the bat, it’s not as good as Feels or its predecessor from earlier this year. It does, however, showcase the new sound Calvin Harris is putting out. He has steadily improved since the mediocre This Is What You Came For, which was not to anyone’s liking (except for Graham, of course). I do like Kehlani’s verses, and Lil Yatchy actually makes a nice contribution throughout the song.

Why You, Why You, Why You Blurbing, If You’re Over It?
    – So, we begin with two exits. I could go on about Find You being another flop for Nick Jonas, seeing as that one didn’t take off elsewhere. But I’m surprised to see it spend only one week here. It’s the first one-weeker since Symphony departed three months ago. That said, I kinda sad to see it go. But the departure I’m most sad about is Something Just Like This. This is the first time we do not have a song by The Chainsmokers since I don’t know how long. Thank you for serving us well on the AT40. You became the bigger hit we wanted to be and I enjoyed your presence. You will definitely be missed.

    – Good to see Do Re Mi making drops like this. Hopefully, it’s a sign that it’ll become a flop.

    – Ouch! Look What You Made Me Do made a big drop out of the Top 10 altogether. Although it’s no longer in my Top 5 favorite songs, I still enjoy it. If I’m being honest, I won’t necessarily be heartbroken if it had a shorter tenure than our current #1 songs.

    – Not surprised to see Havana taking another jump this week. It’ll most likely enter the Top 10 next week. Now the question is, will it be a potential #1 if this keeps up? I would like it to, but we’ll see what happens from here on out.

    – Speaking of #1, Feel It Still has reclaimed the top spot. Thankfully, I still kinda like this song, though I’m hoping Logic can get at least one week in. But I don’t mind Feel It Still staying at the top for at least another week.

    Breakouts/On The Verge:

    • Silence by Marshmello featuring Khalid
    • Let You Down by NF
    • Dusk Till Dawn by ZAYN featuring Sia

    – I don’t have too much of an opinion on Silence since I haven’t heard enough of the song yet. As for the other two, we have both Let You Down and Dusk Till Dawn, the former which is gaining some steam on radio as of this moment. I’ll have more words on Let You Down when it debuts, but to put it short, it’s closer to red than it is green. I’m not wild about that one. And I pretty much talked about Dusk Till Dawn in my previous post. I’m hoping the latter will debut soon.

    Extras/Optional Extras:

    • Now Or Never by Halsey
    • Million Reasons by Lady Gaga
    • Hymn For The Weekend by Coldplay featuring Beyoncé
    • Something Different by Why Don’t We
    • Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran
    • Issues by Julia Michaels
    • Find You by Nick Jonas
    • Let Me Love You by DJ Snake featuring Justin Bieber
    • Feels by Calvin Harris featuring Pharrell, Katy Perry, and Big Sean

    Demi Lovato (1) – Week Of November 11, 2017

Hello friends! So this past weekend for me was pretty good. I went to my best friend’s wedding and it was pretty enjoyable. And then the next day, I watch some football and then went to the movies immediately afterwards to see Thor: Ragnarok. It was really good, so I highly recommend you guys check it out. Anyway, I’m going off-topic. This is a music blog! I’m supposed to be reviewing music, not talk about what going on in my life. Okay seriously, I don’t know any way to put this introduction. Anyway, this is the Veteran’s Day edition of the Hits 1 Weekend Countdown. And I would like to honor those who have fought and sacrificed to protect and serve our country. Biggest Jump Of The Week: Tie between Taylor Swift – Look What You Made Me Do and Cheat Codes featuring Demi Lovato – No Promises (+13)

    New Entrants

    – To kick off this week’s new arrivals, we have Bebe Rexha replacing herself on the countdown with her new single titled Meant To Be, which features country band Florida Georgia Line. I can’t say I’m loving this one too much. Although, it’s slightly better than Body Like A Back Road, this song just goes to show how the quality of country music has declined in general. Many YouTube critics (Spectrum Pulse, Todd In The Shadows, TheDoubleAgent, etc.) have been bashing the country genre for some time now, and this song is basically no exception. Bebe’s vocals are okay for the most part, but I’m just not a fan of the vocals from that of the Florida Georgia Line. In fact, they basically do most of the singing throughout the song, which brings it down for me. Also, the lyrical content really isn’t all that good, much like some of the other mediocre country songs out there. Overall, it’s just not my cup of tea. So yeah, I’d skip this.

    – I’m sure many of you didn’t quite expect to hear more from ZAYN so soon, huh? Well, guess what? He’s back, and he’s brought along Sia for their new single titled Dusk Till Dawn. At first listen, my reaction was not necessarily the greatest, seeing as I’ve had it in red at one point back when it made its debut on Hit-Bound, in part because I felt it was too slow and underwhelming. But if you’ve been following my blog lately, you’ll realize that I’ve warmed up to this song in record time. ZAYN’s and Sia’s vocals blend together very nicely, especially in both the chorus and the pre-chorus, and I’ve come to find that the production is solid all around. I recently watched the music video for the song, and it was cool for the most part. By the looks of it, it kinda reminds me of the 90’s action movie. Yeah, that music video gives me the chills. I love the suspense to it. Anyway, after more listens, I’ve come around to enjoy the song more and it’s easily the best debut of the week.

    – Finally, we have newcomer Lauv with his first song on the countdown. The song is called I Like Me Better. This was on the YouTube 15 way back in the summer, when I briefly talked about this song. I don’t think many of you have noticed, but this song was slightly closer to red than it was to green. After repeated listens, I chose red simply because I just find it underwhelming for my tastes. The production is okay, but his vocals don’t really stand out, which brings the song down for me. My opinion could change, but right now, I’m just not feeling this one.

I’ll Blurb With You From Dusk Till Dawn
    – So as always, we begin with the exits, all of which weren’t popular elsewhere, so I’m not surprised about either of them. First off, I’m thrilled to see You Already Know departing after spending only three weeks here, so no complaints there. Then there’s Wish I Knew You, which I did like and I wished it deserved better. Finally, the one that saddens me the most is Back To You. It was a solid collaboration between both Louis Tomlinson & Bebe Rexha and I enjoyed it from the start. It’s too bad the audience isn’t buying into either artists’ music. Good-bye, Back To You. You will be missed (by me at least).

    – Spyder Harrison mentioned during his introduction of Attention that fans of Charlie Puth saw a Lego version of himself. I remember playing Lego back when I was a kid and I used building blocks to make signs. Those were the good old days (no reference to Macklemore and Kesha).

    – Wow. The Biggest DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week kinda came out of nowhere. Although I don’t quite enjoy Slow Hands as much as I used to, I’m quite shocked to see it take a hard fall out of the Top 10. Guess this must be the end, unless it makes a comeback.

    – On that note, Feel It Still took a surprising big drop out of the Top 10. I thought this was going to be a potential #1 in the near future. Never mind. It doesn’t look like it’s going to get that chance.

    – Can Body Like A Back Road please drive southbound and get off the countdown already?! I am tired of hearing the beginning line, “Got a girl from the south side”, every time I drive in the car. It’s so annoying. How about we get some better country music for once?!

    – Before introducing New Rules, Spyder Harrison mentioned that Dua Lipa doesn’t want people to be obsessed with her love life. Well, guess what Spyder? She’s famous. And like all the music artists, shes getting all the unwanted attention (no reference to Charlie Puth). I hope she haves fun with the paparazzi. 😛

    – *sees #16* Oh my uffing goodness! Look What You Made Me Do made a shocking recovery after that massive drop last week. I wasn’t expecting it, but hey, I’m not complaining.

    – On the note of other unexpected jumps this week, we have No Promises making it back into the Top 20, closing in on the Top 10. Looks like this one isn’t giving up yet despite the fact that it’s dying out elsewhere.

    – We have two Top 10 entrants this week (Too Good At Goodbyes and …Ready For It?), and I’m thrilled about both of them entering that region. …Ready For It? I don’t really need to explain, and given that her album Reputation recently dropped on Friday, I can see it being a potential #1. That which I want to see.

    – Unfortunately for Ed Sheeran, he did not make history this week, as Perfect dropped out of the Top 5 and Galway Girl was just dethroned from the top spot. This must have been a pretty bad week for Ed Sheeran, if I do say so myself, heh. Instead…

    – We have a new #1 this week, in which Demi Lovato takes over with Sorry Not Sorry. I’m pretty much fine with it, personally, though I know some are not too kind about it. Keep in mind that this was #1 on the AT40 this week. Heh, I wonder is she telling Ed Sheeran “I’m sorry” for not letting him make history by replacing himself? 😛

    Hit-Bound:

    • Post Malone featuring 21 Savage – Rockstar
    • Harry Styles – Kiwi
    • Sofi Tukker – Best Friend (DEBUT)
    • Nick Jonas – Find You
    • Walk The Moon – One Foot (DEBUT)
    • P!NK featuring Eminem – Revenge (DEBUT)
    • Imagine Dragons – Whatever It Takes
    • Bruno Mars – Chunky
    • Taylor Swift – Gorgeous
    • Selena Gomez featuring Marshmello – Wolves
    • The Shadowboxers – Hot Damn
    • Macklemore featuring Kesha – Good Old Days
    • Liam Payne – Bedroom Floor
    • X Ambassadors – Ahead Of Myself

    – On this week’s edition of Hit-Bound, we have three new entrants. The first comes from the brand new musical duo, Sofi Tukker with their song titled Best Friend. I can’t really say I’m a fan of this at the moment, mainly because of the vocals and the production. That’s all I’ve got for this song for now.

    – So, we have the return of Walk The Moon with their new single titled One Foot. We haven’t heard from these guys since Shut Up And Dance became their biggest hit back in 2015. As for this one, while it’s not quite as good, this is still pretty fun and enjoyable. Again, that’s all I’ve got right now.

    – Finally, we have more P!NK. And who would’ve guessed that she would collaborate with Eminem, one of the best rappers of all time? Anyway, they bring us their new single titled Revenge. It’s very different compared to some of the other songs. I’m not quite sure how I feel about this one yet. I was juggling between blue and green for this one, and I decided to go with the latter for now. Maybe once I listen to it more, I’ll have a full opinion on it.

    – I haven’t really talked about The Shadowboxers – Hot Damn, so I might as well talk about it now while we’re at it. It sounds pretty cool, although it’s not necessarily a great first impression. It does have some nice elements to it. Right now, I don’t have much more to say about this one.

    – Due to repeated listens, Wolves has become the new best song on Hit-Bound. Selena’s vocals are pretty spot on, and I love the production overall. It’s nice to see Marshmello contribute very well. I’m hoping it can make its debut, which I’m sure it will eventually.

    My Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks

TIE: 1. Selena Gomez featuring Marshmello – Wolves
    3. Macklemore featuring Kesha – Good Old Days

Songs That Debuted This Week One Year Ago:
Bastille – Good Grief: Although it’s not as good as Pompeii, this is still quite enjoyable to some degree. A song that talks about an ex and how he’d miss her more works for me.
DNCE – Body Moves: This one is pretty fun and interesting, if I do say so myself. The music video is easily the best thing about it. Who would’ve guessed we would see Joe Jonas hang out with some random girl?

    New Entrants
    – Our first of two entrants this week comes from returning artist Nick Jonas with his new single, Find You. At first, I didn’t really find it interesting. But with more listens, I’ve come around it. The lyrics to this one are pretty deep. It talks about how one tries to find love, but doesn’t really know where to look. I like the use of the guitars throughout the song. While it’s not quite as good as Chains, it’s pretty solid overall.

    – And then, we have Niall Horan with another song on the countdown. Enter Too Much To Ask, the third single off of his recently released album, Flicker. I pretty much explained this song in my previous post when it debuted on Hits 1. Now, it’s not as upbeat as Slow Hands, but it does show that Niall is good at making acoustic tracks. This song talks about lost love, and the memories they shared together. But now, the person in question is alone and needs someone to come back. Overall, it’s a very nice song, and I’m hoping it does well.

I Never Really Know Just Where To Find Blurbs
    – First up, our two exits. I did like Now Or Never for a while, but I knew it wouldn’t stick with me in the long run. Wild Thoughts, on the other hand, managed to stick with me and I’m sad to see it go. It held up well on this chart, and I’m glad that it got just as big as its predecessor. While some are throwing a be-gone party, I’m not one of them.

    – So, Sorry Not Sorry at #1? I’m fine with it personally. I’ve slightly grown back into the song, though not quite enough to put it in green. I’d much prefer Feel It Still at the top, but you never know for sure if songs like Sorry Not Sorry can hit #1.

1-800-273-8255 has hit a new peak of #3. I can see it hitting #1 in the near future. If Sorry Not Sorry and Feel It Still did before, then this one has a chance, also.

    – *sees #8* Ouch! Well, this didn’t take long. Look What You Made Me Do made a disappointing (to me, at least) drop out of the Top 5 rather quickly. Seeing as its still falling hard elsewhere, I shouldn’t be surprised. Good thing it spent 1 week at #1, so props to that.

    – But then, there’s Thunder entering the Top 10 at #9, which isn’t a surprise since that one is still gaining. I have a feeling this could potentially hit #1 in the near future. Fun fact: both the biggest drop and jump moved 6 spots.

    – Yes, you’re reading that right. I have indeed grown into Havana with repeated listens. I do like the piano work in this one, and I think Camila’s vocals are pretty good. Also, before introducing Havana, Ryan Seacrest mentioned that she performed a Spanish version of this song at the Latin Music Awards. Before today, I didn’t know Havana was her birth place. Heh, I guess I need to start studying these music artists more often.

    – So, Ryan Seacrest mentioned during his introduction of Rockstar that it started out as a cell phone video. I wonder is that how most rap music began flooding the charts because of this? I mean, I heard it was due to the popularity of Vine. Now that Vine is basically gone, I wonder how will these rappers go viral, heh?

    – Before introducing That’s What I Like, Ryan Seacrest mentioned that Bruno Mars had a sinus infection (feel better, Bruno!), but it didn’t stop him from making a epic performance at a concert. Yep, he’s still an electrifying entertainer!

    New Entrants

    – So, more Niall Horan, huh? Too Much To Ask is pretty low-key, but he does prove that he can make acoustic tracks better than some other artists I won’t mention right now. I do think this and Slow Hands are one of the two better tracks off of his album, Flicker. It talks about lost love, especially when one looks back at the memories they shared together, but now the person in question is alone. It’s a very nice song, overall, and I’m hoping it becomes another hit much like Slow Hands.

    – For our second and final debut of the week, we have newcomer Dua Lipa making her first-ever appearance on the countdown. Earlier this year, she had Blow Your Mind (Mwah) on Hit-Bound, but it failed to graduate. Today, she finally makes her debut with New Rules, which has recently reached 500 million views on YouTube. So, congratulations, Dua Lipa! Anyway, I do love the tropical house vibe to the song, and Dua Lipa makes better use of her vocals in this one. It’s another one of those break-up songs in terms of the lyrical content, which talks about how one can move on from their ex and trying to not be friends with them anymore. On the note of the music video, it shows her having a sleepover with her friends in the hotel. It basically shows her friends giving her advice on how to move on from an ex, while she does the same near the end. Anyway, the point I’m trying to get across is, it’s a solid track for her overall and it’s a better choice for her single in her debut album. We’ll see if it has some success here.

Is It Too Much To Blurb

    – So, we had two exits this week. Two Ghosts makes its departure, and given that people aren’t buying into Harry Styles’ music, I probably shouldn’t be as surprised about its exit. On a sad note, we lost The Cure, and with it brings Lady Gaga’s countdown run to a close. This is the first time we don’t have a Lady Gaga song on the countdown since September 10, 2016. Even though it was bigger elsewhere, it had a nice tenure and I enjoyed pretty much every bit of the song. I can see myself putting it in my Top 45 Songs of 2017. Farewell The Cure. Thank you for your time and service on the countdown. You will not be forgotten by me.

    – Our bottom 5 remains the same, so nothing to talk about there.

    – While I was out and about this week, I heard the instrumental version of That’s What I Like on a sports radio station. Quite the refresher.

    – So, I recently found out that Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber are hanging out together again. I wonder does this mean they’ll be in a long-term relationship this time around? Only time will tell on that.

    – Before introducing Attention, Spyder Harrison mentioned that Charlie Puth wears the same pants every day just so he could concentrate on his music. Heh, I wonder does he wash them every day?

    – The guest DJ that introduced Wish I Knew You gave a shout-out to her cool cousin. How very nice of her!

    – All of the songs from #40-#37 held their positions this week.

Heartless doesn’t seem to be getting anywhere on the countdown, as it fell to #35 this week. Pretty unfortunate if you ask me.

    – So, The Script band member Mark Sheehan just recently celebrated his 41st birthday this past Sunday. I would like to wish him a Happy Belated Birthday!

    – My goodness! Look What You Made Me Do took a really hard fall out of the Top 5 all the way down to #29. It’s safe to say that it won’t hit #1 here, given that this one is free-falling elsewhere, also. And remember when I said back when it made its debut that this was going to be the Closer of 2017? Yeah, I jinxed it big time. For me, it’s a disappointment, but at the same time, it’s not surprising that this happened.

    – How is Body Like A Back Road still jumping?! I know I rant about this song so often. But still, it needs to leave and stop polluting the countdown already!

    – So, I shouldn’t be surprised to see Too Good At Goodbyes making a jump this week, given that his new album, The Thrill Of It All, has just been released yesterday.

    – The guest DJ that introduced Save Me A Place gave a shout-out to all of her chemistry friends and her parents. She even mentioned her parents’ names. How very nice of her!

Strip That Down dropping out of the Top 5 (and Top 10) is nothing but good news. Hopefully this is the end.

    – Although Feel It Still hit #1 on The AT40, the same doesn’t ring true here (well, not yet at least). Hopefully, it can get that chance someday.

    – It’s good to see Love So Soft making its arrival in the Top 10, rising to #7. I still enjoy that new sound of hers at this moment. I’m hoping it can stay in the Top 10 for a while.

    – On the note of other Top 10 entrants, we have Perfect making a enormous jump this week into the Top 5, literally swapping places with Look What You Made Me Do. Man, he’s been dominating the charts this year. Something tells me that this could very well be another #1 hit in the making for Ed Sheeran.

    – And while were on that subject, despite Thunder still dominating in sales & radio, lightning did not strike twice for Imagine Dragons this week, as they didn’t hold the #1 spot. Instead…

    – We have What About Us reaching a new peak at #2. It’s good to see P!NK getting another big hit like she did with Just Like Fire back in 2016.

    – And then our #1. Of course, Ed Sheeran was destined to get it back at some point. Now, would it be interesting if he replaces himself with Perfect in the next week or so? If that were to happen, it would be the first time since almost three years ago when Taylor Swift replaced herself at #1.

    Hit-Bound

    – Mikey Piff is back to hosting Hit-Bound this week. We have two debuts, starting with Gorgeous, which is another promo single off of Taylor Swift’s new album, Reputation. Now, all I have to say right now is it’s not as good as her other two singles, but I still like it.
    – And we have more Selena Gomez once again. This time, she’s collaborating with Marshmello in her new single, Wolves. I talked about a possible collaboration of these two not too long ago in one of my posts. Anyway, it’s definitely something Selena should be doing right now, and not those awful sultry tracks she’s been releasing lately (if you know what I’m talking about). I’ll have more on this when it inevitably debuts.

Songs That Debuted This Week One Year Ago:
Pitbull featuring Flo Rida and LunchMoney Lewis – Greenlight: It’s not as good as Timber, but Pitbull always showcases his energy and charisma. Oh, and both Flo Rida & LunchMoney Lewis verses are solid all around.
Fifth Harmony – That’s My Girl: Yeah, I’m not a fan of the fart-sounding trumpets in this one, or their vocals. Sorry.
Jon Bellion – All Time Low: This was one of Adrian’s favorite songs of 2016. He can explain it better than I can. This song does have some neat stuff to it. It’s good to see songs like this become a sleeper hit worldwide for an artist not really known to many people.

    New Entrants
    – To kick off our new round of arrivals this week, we have more Khalid with another solo single, by the name of Young, Dumb And Broke. My initial reaction wasn’t necessarily good at first, especially after the mediocre Location was on here a while back. It’s a step up from its predecessor in terms of the production and his vocals, but its premise is quite dull. As of right now, it’s not really a bad song, but I don’t have much of an opinion on this yet.

    – With the highest debut this week, Charlie Puth has his second song on this countdown. Enter How Long, the second single off of Voice Notes. Right off the bat, this is basically part 2 of Attention, in which it talks about one’s relationship. Like its predecessor, this one has some groove to it. Whether or not this will become another hit for Charlie, we’ll have to see. Overall, while it’s not as good as Attention, I can put up with this solid track of his.

    – Finally, we have more Macklemore, which is nice. And guess what? He replaces himself on the chart with its successor titled Good Old Days, and he brings Kesha along for the fun! Now right off the bat, it’s not quite as good as Glorious, but I love how their vocals blend together in this one. Plus, the piano & instrumentation is pretty solid here. I recently watched the music video, and it feels pretty nostalgic. It shows them camping out with their friends and living the good life. Overall, it’s a pretty sweet song. Both of them managed to win me over with this one.

How Long Has This Been Blurbin’ On

    – Let’s first talk about our exits. To begin, the exit from Friends was kinda unexpected, especially from a high position at #20. Though, it was bound to happen sooner or later, given that people are still too jaded by Despacito getting overplayed. That aside, I kinda wished it deserved better. However, I’m thrilled to see the departure of Know No Better, which was thankfully a flop and wasn’t with us for too long. That one will never be missed. Well, not by me at least. And finally, Glorious took its departure. That one I enjoyed quite a bit and it was a solid collaboration for these two artists (Macklemore & Skylar Grey) overall. Whether this makes my Top 45 songs of the year, I’m not sure yet. But yeah, that song will be missed by me.

    – Ryan Seacrest mentioned during the introduction of Now Or Never that Halsey put on a show in New Jersey with her friends & family. My guess is they were overjoyed to see her perform on stage. That was nice.

    – I’m not thrilled about the big jumps from Why, Do Re Mi, and Rockstar. I still find these songs (especially the last two) extremely annoying. Unfortunately, the very latter is not leaving anytime soon, so I’ll just have to learn to put up with it.

    – However, I’m pleased to see the jump from Perfect, barely missing out on the Top 20 this week. Something tells me it’s going to be another big hit for Ed Sheeran. It’s gaining a lot of traction in sales & radio at this moment. Man, he’s been killing the charts this year with his recent singles.

    – Honestly, I feel very alone when it comes to my opinion of Mi Gente, but I really don’t care because this song sucks. Although Body Like A Back Road angers me more (and still does), this one continues to get more and more grating every time I hear it. It needs to leave this countdown now.

    – Before introducing Despacito, Ryan Seacrest mentioned that Demi Lovato was working on a duet with Luis Fonsi. I wonder will it become another hit like its predecessor? I sure hope so. In fact, we could really use another big hit soon just so it can top the charts, especially on Billboard where the Top 5 is still a mess.

    – Both Imagine Dragons songs (Believer & Thunder) swapped places with each other this week.

    – So, the biggest drop of the week is only 4 spots. Of course, Slow Hands is declining elsewhere, but still this is quite a small drop.

    – And we’ve come to our new #1 this week. Portugal. The Man now has the top spot. I do enjoy Feel It Still, so I’m thrilled to see it up there. It’s good to see indie songs getting bigger in the U.S. So, congrats to Portugal. The Man on their first-ever #1!
