#1 Song This Week One Year Ago: Closer by The Chainsmokers featuring Halsey (6th Of 7 Weeks At #1)

Biggest Rise Of The Week: Havana by Camila Cabello featuring Young Thug (+6)

New Entrants
– I wasn’t really looking forward to hearing more from Fifth Harmony, and I’m sure many of you weren’t either. But alas, here they are debuting this week with He Like That. This song is a bit of a step up from Down. It does have more of a reggae vibe to it, which is interesting, but the lyrics leave something to be desired. I can see it being a grower, though I don’t really expect too much success out of this song seeing as it failed to gain any sort of steam.

– As Feels pretty much died out elsewhere, Calvin Harris has another new single in its stead. Enter Faking It, which features Kehlani and Lil’ Yatchy. Right off the bat, it’s not as good as Feels or its predecessor from earlier this year. It does, however, showcase the new sound Calvin Harris is putting out. He has steadily improved since the mediocre This Is What You Came For, which was not to anyone’s liking (except for Graham, of course). I do like Kehlani’s verses, and Lil Yatchy actually makes a nice contribution throughout the song.

Why You, Why You, Why You Blurbing, If You’re Over It?
– So, we begin with two exits. I could go on about Find You being another flop for Nick Jonas, seeing as that one didn’t take off elsewhere. But I’m surprised to see it spend only one week here. It’s the first one-weeker since Symphony departed three months ago. That said, I kinda sad to see it go. But the departure I’m most sad about is Something Just Like This. This is the first time we do not have a song by The Chainsmokers since I don’t know how long. Thank you for serving us well on the AT40. You became the bigger hit we wanted to be and I enjoyed your presence. You will definitely be missed.

– Good to see Do Re Mi making drops like this. Hopefully, it’s a sign that it’ll become a flop.

– Ouch! Look What You Made Me Do made a big drop out of the Top 10 altogether. Although it’s no longer in my Top 5 favorite songs, I still enjoy it. If I’m being honest, I won’t necessarily be heartbroken if it had a shorter tenure than our current #1 songs.

– Not surprised to see Havana taking another jump this week. It’ll most likely enter the Top 10 next week. Now the question is, will it be a potential #1 if this keeps up? I would like it to, but we’ll see what happens from here on out.

– Speaking of #1, Feel It Still has reclaimed the top spot. Thankfully, I still kinda like this song, though I’m hoping Logic can get at least one week in. But I don’t mind Feel It Still staying at the top for at least another week.

Breakouts/On The Verge:

  • Silence by Marshmello featuring Khalid
  • Let You Down by NF
  • Dusk Till Dawn by ZAYN featuring Sia

– I don’t have too much of an opinion on Silence since I haven’t heard enough of the song yet. As for the other two, we have both Let You Down and Dusk Till Dawn, the former which is gaining some steam on radio as of this moment. I’ll have more words on Let You Down when it debuts, but to put it short, it’s closer to red than it is green. I’m not wild about that one. And I pretty much talked about Dusk Till Dawn in my previous post. I’m hoping the latter will debut soon.

Extras/Optional Extras:

  • Now Or Never by Halsey
  • Million Reasons by Lady Gaga
  • Hymn For The Weekend by Coldplay featuring Beyoncé
  • Something Different by Why Don’t We
  • Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran
  • Issues by Julia Michaels
  • Find You by Nick Jonas
  • Let Me Love You by DJ Snake featuring Justin Bieber
  • Feels by Calvin Harris featuring Pharrell, Katy Perry, and Big Sean

  1. Well that is a lot of color for the extras. While I do not like the original Do Re Mi, I like the version with Gucci Mane. I am not sad or surprised that Find You left. It was underwhelming and flopped hard on radio. Like, it is not even on the chart anymore. Let You Down is decent but the chorus is annoying. Anyway, nice post!
