Hello, fam! It’s been a busy week for me this week. Honestly, I’m just so tired I’m ready for the holidays to get here. Plus, it is cold where I am right now. Speaking of which, Thanksgiving is next week, and Christmas is fast approaching. What is the weather like where you live? What are your plans for the holidays? Let me know in the comments section below. Enough about that; the reason I’m here is to review music. To make it simple, this week was divine in every sense of the word. Okay, maybe not too divine, but a lot of good things happened this week. Let’s get right into it. Before we get to this week’s fresh 45, here are the songs we’re saying good-bye to this week:
- Kygo featuring Selena Gomez – It Ain’t Me (#45)
The Countdown:
Biggest DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: Sam Hunt – Body Like A Back Road (-10) (THANK YOU, NORTH AMERICA!!!)
Biggest Jump Of The Week: Portugal. The Man – Feel It Still (+10)
New Entrants
– So, we say good-bye to It Ain’t Me. And while some will find you old & annoying at this point, I’m among those who will be grieving its departure. Thank you for serving us well on this countdown. You will be remembered.
– If I’m being honest, I wasn’t expecting P!NK to hit #1 with What About Us, but I’m most certainly take it. And hey, it gives me another reason to not look up Ed Sheeran pictures for another week. This is another song that just keeps getting better for me with each listen. And I’m sure a certain someone I won’t mention will be happy about this week’s #1, also. If it weren’t for Praying, then this would’ve been in purple for me.
– As far as the rest of the Top 5 goes, we have quite a shift in terms of new songs entering. For starters, we have Perfect making it back into that region after dropping out last week. Then, you have …Ready For It? entering for the first time, given the hype behind Taylor Swift’s new album, reputation.
– There is also change for the rest of the Top 10 as well. While What Lovers Do makes its re-entry in that territory, we have Let Me Go taking a unexpected jump this week. Could this potentially be the next Starving? I hope so, but we’ll see what happens from here on out.
– In terms of other unexpected jumps, we have Feel It Still making a nice recovery. It’s almost like that big drop from last week never happened. Plus, this just reclaimed the #1 spot on the AT40 this week.
– I’m not too thrilled about the second-week jump from I Like Me Better. However, we do have One More Light making another entrance into the Top 30. I’ll take that over the former any day.
– The guest DJ that introduced Stay gave a shout-out to all of her grandkids (and everyone else in her family). Very nice. We don’t hear grandmothers making their appearance as guest DJ’s that often.
– Looks like this is the end of the road for Despacito seeing as it tumbled down near the bottom 5. While I know for sure people are going to be throwing a be-gone party over that one when it leaves, I am not among those who will be attending. Sorry to those who have soured on it, but I still enjoy this song. Also, before introducing Despacito, Spyder Harrison talked about Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez getting back together and Selena’s past relationship with The Weeknd. I’m guessing Selena just can’t make up her mind about who she wants to be with, heh.
– And one last thing: I AM HAPPY TO SAY THAT BODY LIKE A BACK ROAD WAS ANNOUNCED AS THE “BIGGEST DRRRRRRROP!!! OF THE WEEK”!!! YES YES YES YES YES!!! LET US REJOICE!!! 😀

BONUS: 6 – Best Song On The Countdown:
1. Kesha – Praying
Martin Garrix featuring Bebe Rexha – In The Name Of Love: This EDM song is absolutely divine in every sense of the word. Bebe’s powerful vocal performance is easily the best thing about it. It’s too bad this didn’t become a huge hit I wanted to be and it’s unfortunately going to miss the Billboard Year-End List of 2017.

Umm you forgot to credit the three weeks Galway Girl had at the top.

Also when you said “As far as the rest of the Top 5 goes, we have quite a shift in terms of new songs entering,” when I jacked over it, I thought it had said “we have quite a sh*t in terms of new songs entering.” 😛

You also forgot Believer’s three weeks at #1.

I think the vocalist from The Shadowboxers sounds like a combination of Justin Timberlake & The Weeknd. Great post!

My thoughts on this:I do agree, the vocalist in The Shadowboxers does sound a bit like The Weeknd. If you like What About Us and Dusk Till Dawn better than Look What You Made Me Do, dang, you must like them a lot.

Yeah, I grew into Dusk Till Dawn in record time. Talked about it a couple of posts back. And you'll see that I did put that as my recommendation for the AT40 before it was listed a breakout this week.As for What About Us, it grew on me also, and I don't just say that because of Adrian, either. Repeated listens, plus having paid attention to others' takes on it makes me fell in love with the song, though not in the same degree with Just Like Fire.

Quick question: are you gonna be watching the AMAs?

Montavis, I haven´t heard your opinion on Gucci Gang yet. Your thoughts on it?

Just as bad as Rockstar in my opinion. Actually, it's even worse. Obnoxious vocals, stupid lyrical content, etc. All of that tells you everything you need to know in terms of my take on it. And the sad thing is this has potential to be #1 according to some predictions on Pulse Music Boards. Goddamn it.If I'm being honest, this is the point where I really start to question the quality of music in general (on Billboard at least), just because the music is so bad across the board (mostly from rappers). But I'll keep updating it weekly for you guys anyway. Honestly, I am just pissed off right now.

I like it, but not what you think. It is so stupid it actually makes me laugh. I do like the production (even though it is basically what we hear in most rap songs now). It is actually really stupid how it is this far up at #3, and in the Top 20 in general. I totally agree on you with everything you say. This song explains what (almost) every rap song was that we got this year.
