Hello, fam! So, I’ll be doing a rankdown based on the Hits 1 Year-End for 2018! It’s been a long time coming, but I am finally ready to do this!

Blurb: I actually really liked it at first. I thought Bea sounded good with her vocals. But unfortunately, there’s nothing special about it anymore and it got on my nerves after a while. So, I’m kinda happy this was out first.
With that, three people lose one of their Bottom 5, and two people lose one of their Top 10.
44. Maroon 5 – Wait
Inverse Points: 330
Golf Points: 728

Blurb: Not very surprised at all by this. The song shows how much Maroon 5 has changed for the worse. Adam has essentially taken over the band, and that’s not a good thing. The production is very underwhelming, and I’m not sold on the lyrics.
So, we get our first Top 5 as Aidan will lose one of them. But six people have lost one of their bottom 5, including Matthew, Scott R., and Jorge, who all lose their first of their bottom 5.
43. Camila Cabello – Never Be The Same

Blurb: I’ll admit Camila has some good songs. But here, she shows that she isn’t a good singer. Her voice is grating throughout the song, especially in the pre-chorus. This is probably her worst single since going solo.
Hollow Man, Grandpa, and Music-Junkie will lose one of their Top 5. Meanwhile, 7 people lose one of their Bottom 5.
42. Lauv – I Like Me Better

45. WAMB10
Blurb: This song is a mess. The weird production mixed in with cringe-worthy lyrics certainly doesn’t make this a fun listen. Lauv did not make a first good impression with this at all.
Both Jorge and WAMB10 lose their #45. In addition, six other people lose one of their Bottom 5. On the other hand, Will loses his first Top 5.
41. Backstreet Boys – Don’t Go Breaking My Heart

Blurb: I’m actually surprised that quite a lot of people here dislike this. I thought it was a great comeback single for the Backstreet Boys. Too bad some here don’t feel the same.
Six people lose one of their Bottom 5, including Sasha who is the 4th person to lose #45. On the other side, Adrian and PlasmaVortex28 both lose the first of their respective Top 10.
40. Kelly Clarkson – Love So Soft

Blurb: Kelly Clarkson has done better, though I will say it’s most definitely not a bad song. I love the new soulful sound she is going for. But that, along with the trap production doesn’t exactly mesh well together and I do question some of the lines.
Adrian loses another of his Bottom 5. With that, he only has one remaining. On the flip side, Anonymous get his first Top 5 loss here.
39. Bebe Rexha featuring Florida Georgia Line – Meant To Be

Blurb: I think I’ve said enough about this one. Bebe’s attempt to go more country was poorly executed with this song. Florida Georgia Line’s vocals are not good, and some of the lyrics are terrible.
WAMB10 gets her first Top 5 loss, while both Hollow Man and Waffle lose their #45.
38. Imagine Dragons – Thunder
Inverse Points: 449
Golf Points: 609
Average Rank: 26.48

Blurb: I can say it’s pretty catchy. But it is repetitive and it got on my nerves a little bit, hence why I didn’t exactly liked it at first. One thing’s for sure, though: it’s better than Machine.
With that, Scott S. loses his first top 5. Also, both Beverly and Nick lose another of their Bottom 5, which means they one remaining.
Extras (First Set):
Extra #1: Taylor Swift featuring Ed Sheeran and Future – End Game
Peak: #1 (1 Week)
My Opinion: Great
Blurb: This was quite an interesting collaboration between three artists. But I’m glad it worked out well. Both Taylor and Ed sound great with their vocals, and Future’s verse isn’t bad at all for once.
Extra #2: Bad Wolves – Zombie
Peak: #8
My Opinion: Great
Blurb: This was definitely a great cover of the song from The Cranberries. It’s basically a tribute to one of their band members Dolores O’Riordan who passed away last year. Their vocals are pretty good, and I love the production here. In a way, they remind me of Three Days Grace.
Extra #3: X Ambassadors – Ahead Of Myself
Peak: #8
My Opinion: Great
Blurb: It’s not quite as good as Renegades, which was a huge favorite of mine back in 2015. But this song is still solid. These guys sound pretty good overall throughout the song. I like the chorus, the production is nice, and the lyrics are well-written.
37. Halsey – Bad At Love

Blurb: I really, really like Halsey and I personally think this is one of her best songs. Her talent was definitely put on great display here. I can’t say that about Without Me, although I actually find it decent now.
So, I lose one of my Top 10 for the first time. Waffle loses another of his bottom 5, and that means he has just one remaining.
36. Zedd featuring Maren Morris and Grey – The Middle
Inverse Points: 455

Blurb: The title of the song speaks for itself. I remember finding this to be better than its predecessor. I don’t know what the hell I was thinking. Bebe sounds like nails down a chalkboard, and the production is extremely annoying. She can do so MUCH better.
With that, both Grandpa and WAMB10 lose another of their Top 5. Dylan loses his second of his Bottom 5. Me and Matthew both lost our 4th song in that region, which means we each have one remaining.
34. G-Eazy featuring Halsey – Him & I

Blurb: I don’t love it as much now, mainly because it is meaningless given that G-Eazy and Halsey are no longer a couple. I do love Halsey’s contribution all throughout the song though, and I think G-Eazy is a pretty solid rapper. That’s really all I can say about this one.
PlasmaVortex28 loses the first of his Top 5 here, and Scott S. loses the second of his Bottom 5.

Adrian gets his first Top 5 loss. Meanwhile Waffle loses his #42, and with that he has officially cleared his Bottom 5.
32. Fall Out Boy – The Last Of The Real Ones

Blurb: Easily the best song off of MANIA. The song reminds me of the Fall Out Boy I know and love. The rock vibe here is just phenomenal and their voice sounds really good. I’m glad Hits 1 picked up the song.
That means Grandpa will lose another of his Bottom 5, leaving him with one remaining. On the other side, Matthew gets his first Top 5 loss.
31. Halsey featuring Big Sean and Stefflon Don – Alone

Blurb: While it wasn’t necessarily the best off of Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, the remix did add some life to it. Again, I really like Halsey and she shows a nice display of talent. I like the verses we get from Big Sean and Stefflon Don. Too bad Hits 1 decided to go with the solo version instead of the remix.
PlasmaVortex28 loses his second Top 5 here. Also, Scott S. loses another of his Bottom 5. That leaves him with one remaining.
Extras (Second Set):
Extra #4: Bazzi – Mine
Peak: #18
My Opinion: Good
Blurb: I do kinda like the song. It’s something unique and Bazzi made a decent first impression here. It may be the shortest song I’ve heard, but it’s still good.
Extra #5: Kesha featuring The Dap-Kings Horns – Woman
Peak: #9
My Opinion: Great
Blurb: Kesha is a huge favorite of mine, and this song gives me another reason to think that way. She sounds amazing as always, and the instrumentation is great. Overall, it’s definitely something I enjoyed.
Extra #6: NF – Let You Down
Peak: #5
My Opinion: Bad
Blurb: I can see the appeal to this one, in part because of the meaning. But I don’t like his delivery and the chipmunk vocals are kinda annoying. So yeah, I’m not a big fan. Sorry.

Both Beverly and Nick lose the first of their respective Top 5 here.

Blurb: This song is just beautiful. I pretty much explained why I felt that way in My Top 50 Songs of 2018, where I ranked it at #11. But everything about the song from the top down, bottom up is just divine. Kesha sounds amazing as always, the lyrics are creative, and the piano work is nicely done.
Adrian loses his second Top 5 song, and Jorge loses his first. Sasha officially clears out her Bottom 5 as she loses #43.
28. Panic! At The Disco – Say Amen (Saturday Night)

Waffle gets his first Top 5 loss, and Nick gets his second. Music-Junkie loses his fourth of his Bottom 5, leaving him with just one remaining.

Blurb: Evolve wasn’t really a good album overall, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t any good songs. In fact, Whatever It Takes is one of the best their album has to offer. It’s a motivational song. I love how fast-paced it is and the lyrics are well-written.

Blurb: I’m going to make this simple: this song is an embarrassment to the EDM genre. From the awful production to the whole friend-zone anthem, this is basically Marshmello and Anne-Marie hitting rock bottom. And this is coming from someone who adores songs like Rockabye and Wolves.
And with that, the two Scotts, Nick, and myself have officially cleared out our Bottom 5. Meanwhile, an astonishing eight people lose one of their respective Top 5, including Anonymous who sadly loses his #1.

Blurb: This song is just magical in every sense of the word. From the awesome production on down to the creative and nicely-written lyrics and amazing vocals from Selena, this is probably my favorite song Marshmello has been a part of. Seriously, I want to hear something more along the lines of that song, not Friends or Happier.
So, I end up losing my second Top 5 song. But we do get two Bottom 5 losses with Aidan G. and Beverly both losing their #45. And because of that, Beverly’s Bottom 5 has been officially cleared out.

Extras (Third Set):
Extra #7: Zedd featuring Elley Duhe – Happy Now
Peak: #7
My Opinion: Great
Blurb: I don’t care what anyone says. I absolutely adore the song. I thought Elley sounds really amazing with her voice. I think she’s a great singer. And then there’s the instrumental after the chorus, which was cool and very unique.
Extra #8: Ariana Grande – God Is A Woman
Peak: #8
My Opinion: Great
Blurb: Despite the controversial nature towards the song, I still find it to be really good because of Ariana alone. The chorus is just mesmerzing, especially towards the end. It’s not necessarily the best off of Sweetner, but I definitely enjoyed it.
Extra #9: Bruno Mars featuring Cardi B – Finesse (Remix)
Peak: #9
My Opinion: Great
Blurb: This is probably one of, if not my favorite, songs from 24K Magic. I love the new jack swing vibe it has. The original verison of the song is great on its own. But in the remix, Cardi B adds more to it. I like her verses, and the music video reminded me of the TV Show In Living Color, which I watched growing up.

Blurb: The lead single off of What If Nothing is definitely a jam. Hearing them sing, they sound like they were having fun recording the song. The production is just divine. At least this one did well on Hits 1 unlike elsewhere. It’s too bad that Walk The Moon had to become a one-hit-wonder.
Adrian sadly loses his #1, meaning he has no Top 5 rankings left. Sorry, man.
Also, both Scott’s lose one of their respective Top 5. Scott S. has only one left.

Blurb: This is basically Starving, except way better. Hailee shows what she is truly capable of here. I love the verse from Florida Georgia Line and they both sound great in the chorus. The drop isn’t annoying and the lyrics are better. I can consider this to be Hailee’s best song.
Beverly and Nick both lose their #1, unfortunately. In the process, there are four more losses in the Top 5, including myself. That big blow means that both Will and Scott S. have no Top 5 rankings left.
Meanwhile, Aidan G. has officially cleared out his Bottom 5 with the loss of his #41.

Blurb: Taken from the Love, Simon movie soundtrack, it’s Khalid’s best song thus far. I like pretty much everything about it from the production on down to the vocals.
We have two more Top 5 losses here, and that means Music-Junkie doesn’t have any left.
Extras (Fourth Set):
Extra #10: Post Malone – Better Now
Peak: #6
My Opinion: Great
Blurb: I may not be sold on Post Malone’s music, but I’d say this is one of his best songs. He shows what he is capable of vocally, and I like the meaning behind it.
Extra #11: Charlie Puth – The Way I Am
Peak: #4
My Opinion: Decent
Blurb: It’s one of the weakest off of Voicenotes, but I kinda like what Charlie is going for in the song. Still, he has better song off of the album.
Extra #12: Shawn Mendes – Lost In Japan
Peak: #8
My Opinion: Great
Blurb: I genuinely fell in love with the song from the moment it was released and my opinion hasn’t changed since. The groove is just amazing, and Shawn sounds so smooth with his voice. I wish it had more success than what it ultimately got in the end.

So, . will lose his #1 here. Also, PlasmaVortex28 loses one of his Bottom 5, and that means he has only one remaining.

Blurb: I can safely say that Panic! At The Disco almost never disappoints me. High Hopes is definitely an enjoyable song. The instruments were put to great use, especially the trumpets. I love the way Brendon Urie can hit those high notes. I’m glad that this became a big hit elsewhere.
Brayden and Sasha both get their #1 loss. Neither of them have any Top 5 rankings left. On the other side, both Anonymous and PlasmaVortex28 lose the last of their respective Bottom 5.

Blurb: I’m not too surprised by the amount of people that love the song. But for me, while I can say it’s a lot better than Friends, it’s still pretty undesireable. Sure, it has a meaning and the piano is nice. But the production is too basic and Dan’s voice is pretty meh.
Dylan loses his last remaining song in the Top 5, while Hollow Man officially cleared his Bottom 5.

Blurb: This is easily the best song Charlie Puth has done as a solo artist. I love everything about the song. Charlie and Kehlani both have nice chemistry together. The production is solid and I love how he can be creative with the lyrics. It was a great collaboration overall. It’s too bad the song didn’t have much success outside of Hits 1.

I’m mostly just kinda sick of it.12: Great = Soooo much better than IMB. I don’t really have a huge preference between the original and the remix. Both are very solid and enjoyable songs.
