Hello, fam! So, Bebe Rexha is the guest host for the American Top 40 in place of Ryan Seacrest this week. This countdown was good, considering our new #1 this week, which I’m very thrilled about. Though, we did have some things that were not to my liking. Let’s get on with it! So with that being said, here are the songs leaving the countdown this week:
- My My My! by Troye Sivan (#31)
- Walk On Water by Thirty Seconds To Mars (#38)
The Countdown:
Last Week’s #1 Song: Him & I by G-Eazy featuring Halsey
#1 Song This Week One Year Ago: Shape Of You by Ed Sheeran (6th of 10 Weeks At #1)
Biggest Fall Of The Week: Young, Dumb, And Broke by Khalid (–10)
Biggest Rise Of The Week: Friends by Marshmello featuring Anne-Marie (+8)
New Entrants
– We have two new songs entering the countdown that I’ll be covering this week. First, we’ll begin with more Taylor Swift once again with her next single from Reputation, titled Delicate. Now, Taylor Swift is normally the one that can make any song a hit in large part because of her star power. But her recent singles have flopped badly as of late. She is looking to redeem herself somehow with this song. As I mentioned before, I’ve come around to the song after more listens. I love her vocals as always and the production is pretty good overall. It’s pales in comparison to her previous singles, but nevertheless it’s still a good song. She has two music videos for the song, one of which was recently released being a vertical music video. The other which was released last month basically shows her just being happy and enjoying herself. It’ll be interesting to see how this will do given that her recent singles from Reputation didn’t become huge hits.
– Here we go with more Post Malone once again. And this time, he’s collaborating with Ty Dolla $ign in his latest single titled Psycho. I came in with low expectations and unfortunately, it just didn’t work for me at all. I’m not sold on the lyrics. Here, they’re bragging about stuff and what not. The production once again is lazy, and I’m still not a fan of the vocals. Also, Ty Dolla $ign hardly adds anything to the song. His verse isn’t really good either, though it slightly better than 21 Savage’s part in Rockstar, but that’s not saying much. While it’s a little bit of a step up from its predecessor, I’m still not a fan of this at all.
Young Blurbs Run Free
– So, our two exits consist of songs that deserved better, My My My! in particular. That one was enjoyable and it’s unfortunate that Troye Sivan can’t get a hit. Walk On Water I thought was pretty good, but I’m not too surprised given that people aren’t really fond of what Thirty Seconds To Mars had to offer.
– As you probably would’ve guessed, I’m pleased to see Finesse at #1! Hopefully, Bruno continues his path of producing old-school funk music like this because it fits him well. Cardi B. adds a lot to the remix of the song. So yeah, I’m definitely happy about this.
– I’m not too surprised to see Meant To Be in the Top 5, but it doesn’t make me happy. The only reason it’s gotten so far is because of great sales and radio. Honestly, I think songs like I Got You deserve better, but people seem to disagree. Oh well.
– Pray For Me is certainly welcome in the Top 10. I have a feeling it may end up in the Top 5 sooner or later. The Weeknd did just recently released a new EP last week, which I haven’t heard as of yet. But yeah, it’s nice to see this one holding up so far.
– I’m not huge on the big jump from Friends this week. Frankly, I don’t see the appeal to the song. A song about being in the friend-zone does not work for me, especially when the production is straight up bad and Anne-Marie herself doesn’t make it better. As someone who’s fallen in love with songs like Rockabye and Wolves, I’m really disappointed with the way it turned out. I’m hoping this song can flop soon, but it’s not very likely at this point in time.
– I’m not too surprised about Young, Dumb, And Broke dropping big this week considering that it’s dying out elsewhere. Looks like the end may finally be near for this song. Though, I do wish Love Lies would debut at some point since it’s a good song and Khalid shows what he’s capable of.

Songs That Debuted This Week One Year Ago:
Play That Song by Train: I already discussed this one before, but it’s just as stiff as Hey, Soul Sister, which I also detested. Honestly, I’d rather hear something along the lines of Drive By.
Swalla by Jason Derulo featuring Ty Dolla $ign and Nicki Minaj: This is a huge guilty pleasure of mine from last year. Sure, the lyrics aren’t great, but I like mostly everything else about this.

Yay for all of the extras! Those are all jams.I love Friends, but I can kind of see how you hate it. But I do love every song in your top 5 and hate 3 songs in your bottom 5.
