New Entrants:
– We get a re-entry from Shallow by Lady Gaga featuring Bradley Cooper, which was expected given that we’ve seen a resurgence of the song’s popularity ever since it hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 a while ago. I’m glad it’s back on the countdown. Hopefully, its second tenure will be better than its first.
– And now we have two newer songs entering the countdown.
Sabrina Carpenter makes her return once more, this time with
Sue Me. I haven’t really been a big fan of what
Sabrina Carpenter has to offer.
Why was pretty bland and
Almost Love was decent. As for
Sue Me, it kinda lands somewhere in the middle when it comes to my opinion on the song. I’m not huge on the production of the song. It reminds me of
Sorry Not Sorry by Demi Lovato in a way, except here it’s inferior. Her voice is decent, but nothing about it stands out. Overall, it’s just not something I’ll come back to in a year or so.
– Unless you’ve been living under a rock throughout the month of March, then you’ve probably heard that the Jonas Brothers are back together again. This time, they make their big comeback with Sucker, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and just recently had the highest debut in Hits 1 Weekend Countdown history. I do like the song, though it did took a couple of listens for me to come around to. I like the chorus somewhat and the instrumentation is pretty good. My only concern is that I don’t like the whistling that comes after the chorus. Hearing the song, it reminds me of Feel It Still by Portugal. The Man, which was a sleeper hit back in 2017. I’m sure this song will end up doing well on this countdown. Like I said, I do like the song, so I’ll be okay with this.
