AT40: Ariana Grande (3) – Week Of April 13, 2019

Hello, guys! So, I’m back once again. I know it’s been rough for me for the past month or so. But I just want to let you guys know that I do have a life outside of blogging. Work is just killing me right now. Again, like I said before, I do hope things will be back to normal soon. You’ll just have to bear with me for the time being. Biggest Fall Of The Week: Thank U, Next by Ariana Grande (–6)
Biggest Jump Of The Week: Here With Me by Marshmello featuring CHVRCHES (+10)
New Entrants:
– We’ll start with a newcomer that’s been making music since last year. Billie Eilish makes her appearance with When The Party’s Over. I know it’s a unpopular opinion, but I’m actually fond of most of what Billie Eilish has to offer. I like her unique voice in this one, even though the production is not there (outside of the piano work). I also think the lyrics are pretty solid. Overall, I can say I enjoy the song.
– Up next, we get the return of Alessia Cara with her next single from The Pains Of Growing, titled Out Of Love. I will say that this is a step up from Trust My Lonely, which I wasn’t a big fan of for the most part. The song is simply a piano ballad, and I have a thing for piano ballads. I like her voice. She sounds better in this song than Trust My Lonely. The lyrical content is also nice. My only concern is that the production can be a little underwhelming in some parts of the song, but I do like the piano work, though. I can definitely see this one growing on me with time. But right now, I find the song to be okay.

– Following the success of High Hopes, we get another single from Panic! At The Disco titled Hey Look Ma, I Made It. I’ve been enjoying that song ever since Hits 1 first picked it up and I still do today. I like the lyrics about one’s journey to success. I love the production with the horns and his voice sounds great as usual. Overall, after hearing this for a while, I can safely say it’s one of the best singles off of Pray For The Wicked. I’m glad he chose it as a single.

Best Debut Of The Week: Hey Look Ma, I Made It by Panic! At The Disco

Out Of Blurbs
– On the note of exits, Damn by LIVVIA only lasted a mere two weeks. I do like that song, but I’m not too disappointed about its departure. I wasn’t too fond of Sue Me, so I’m okay with it leaving. Finally, we lost This Feeling, which I’m sad about considering this is the best song The Chainsmokers’ have released since Closer. It did okay in its tenure by reaching the Top 10, so I’m pretty pleased about that.

– I’m not thrilled about the arrival of Wow. by Post Malone in the Top 10. While it’s not the worst song he has released, there’s nothing about it that really appeals to me. He has done better.

Thank U, Next dropped out of the Top 10 relatively quickly, which I’m okay with because I’m starting to lose interest in that song. However, I’d much rather see that song still in the Top 10 than her two recent singles, both of which are not good.

– I do like the jump we get from Here With Me this week. It’s a solid song overall and I’ve been enjoying it lately. I would like to see that one become a success like his two predecessors.

Biggest DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: Meghan Trainor – All The Ways (–16)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Austin Brown – In Betweenin’ (+18)

New Entrants:
– We’ll begin our new round of entrants with a song that’s been around since the start of the year. Here, we have Lizzo bringing us her single titled Juice. Right off the bat, the song is just a fun retro jam. When I listen to her voice, it kinds reminds me of a singer from the soul/R&B genre that I grew up listening to. It fits her well for a song that has a funky vibe. The production is just solid all around. So yeah, I’m in love with this one. Hopefully, it sticks around for a little while.

– Our next debut of the week comes from another member of Fifth Harmony who has a solo single. Ally Brooke makes her debut with Low Key. With that, all of the members of the group have released their solo music. I think Normani is the best out of all of them, with Lauren Jauregui coming in a close second. Dinah Jane is decent for the most part. I have very mixed feelings about Camila Cabello, but she has released some good songs. So, where does Ally Brooke stand in my opinion, you might ask? Well, I personally think she is a talented singer. But she doesn’t show it in the song. She sounds pretty underwhelming in the chorus. The lyrics aren’t really any good. The song also features Tyga, who doesn’t add much to the song whatsoever. Luckily, Hits 1 did edit out his verse, but it doesn’t really change my opinion on the song. Yeah, I’m not fond of this. Honestly, I expected more out of Ally. But this is just disappointing overall and frankly, not very good. And it’s very sad because I like her. Oh well.

– Finally, we have more of Bebe Rexha with her next single making its debut on the countdown, by the name of Last Hurrah. I’ve been waiting for her to release the follow-up to I’m A Mess, which I still loathe with great intensity. And after hearing this song, I found it to be a massive step up from that.

Best Debut Of The Week: Lizzo – Juice

Gotta Blame It On My Blurbs
– In terms of our exits for the week, Harry lasted only two weeks on the countdown, thus making this the shortest-tenured song on the countdown so far this year. But it really wasn’t that good of a song, so I’m happy about it leaving. Girls Like You lasted a long time here, and while it was something I kinda grew into it wasn’t really memorable in the long run. Lastly, there’s 365, which I loved. It’s too bad it didn’t get as big as The Middle, which was a huge hit in 2018. Oh well.

– Did we really need Let Me Down Slowly back in the Top 5?!?! I’d like to think not. I personally think there are better songs that are worthy of being in that region over that song.

– On that note, we have This Feeling back in the Top 10, which is very nice to see. I still absolutely love the song, so I certainly wouldn’t mind it staying in the Top 10 for as long as it wants.

– The massive jumps from In Betweenin’ and Walk Me Home were no surprise. The former is one I’m not thrilled about. The latter, on the other hand, is one I’m okay with even though it isn’t nearly P!NK’s best song.

– Speaking of Kelsea Ballerini, it looks like Miss Me More is dying out on this countdown. She definitely deserves more recognition outside of Hits 1. One would think that since This Feeling was a multi-week #1, her solo single would follow suit. But that is unfortunately not the case.

– On the note of big drops, All The Ways fell down to the Bottom 10 at #39. It was expected, but it’s still highly disappointing, especially since I love the song. Of course, this had to be underrated.

Hit-Bound:

  • Kygo featuring Valerie Broussard – Think About You
  • lovelytheband – Maybe, I’m Afraid
  • Jordan McGraw – Flexible (DEBUT)

  • Ava Max – So Am I
  • FLETCHER – Undrunk
  • Louis Tomlinson – Two Of Us
  • NOTD featuring Felix Jaehn, Captain Cuts, and Georgia Ku – So Close

Entrant Reviews:
– On this week’s edition of Hit-Bound, we have a song from the song of Dr. Phil who makes an appearance. Jordan McGraw has a song titled Flexible. The production is a little weird and I’m not really feeling his voice. That’s all I have to say about this one.
– Up next is more of the Jonas Brothers with their newer single they just released, by the name of Cool. I do like the production in this one, and I think the vocals are nice. But the lyrics are pretty questionable, hence why it’s in blue for now. I much prefer their current #1 song as of this moment. Still, Cool isn’t too bad of a song.

– Finally, we have the return of MAX, and he’s collaborating with Quinn XCII in his brand new single titled Love Me Less. I’ve never really cared for MAX’s music, unlike some people here. I kinda like his voice for the most part, but the production isn’t really the best here, and Quinn XCII doesn’t sound good with his verse. More on this when it debuts.

Songs That Debuted This Week One Year Ago:
Rudimental featuring Jess Glynne, Macklemore, and Dan Caplen – These Days: For a EDM group who are not relevant in music, this is actually solid across the board. What I like about it most is the lyrical content, which is well-written. This is probably the best thing they’ve done so far.
Alice Merton – No Roots: This song is unique in almost every way. Alice has an interesting voice, and that bass, combined with the groove, is a killer.

AT40: Ariana Grande (2) – Week Of April 6, 2019

Hello, fam! I have another late post. It just seems like I can’t find any motivation to commit to my blog lately. But, I have been actively working on my personal chart. #1 Song This Week One Year Ago: Finesse (Remix) by Bruno Mars featuring Cardi B (1st of 2 Weeks At #1)

Biggest Fall Of The Week: Sicko Mode by Travis Scott featuring Drake (–3)
Biggest Rise Of The Week: Last Hurrah by Bebe Rexha (+8)
New Entrants:
– Our first debut comes from Marshmello, who has the follow-up to Happier that I’ve been waiting for. He collaborates with the band CHVRCHES in their latest single titled Here With Me. This is a step up from his previous singles. Marshmello showed me that he is talented as a DJ producer, unlike in songs such as Friends, which was my #3 least favorite song of 2018. I like Lauren Mayberry’s voice. She sounds good in the chorus. Overall it is a good song and I hope to see it have some success.
– Next, we get another member of Fifth Harmony going solo. This time, Ally Brooke gives us her single titled Low Key. With her debut, all the members of Fifth Harmony have released their solo music. I came in with pretty decent expectations because I think Ally Brooke is a talented singer. But when I listened to the song in its entirety, it just fell short. Ally doesn’t really sound too good with her voice. She doesn’t really stand out in any part of the song. The production is okay, but it’s not really special. We also get a verse from Tyga, who is also featured in the song. He doesn’t contribute to the song at all. So yeah, I don’t like this song. I expected more out of Ally, but this is just disappointing and frankly, not good.

– Finally, we have a newcomer making her first appearance on the countdown. Her name is Mabel and she has a song titled Don’t Call Me Up. I don’t really have much I can say about the song. I kinda like her voice, but I feel like the production isn’t special and I find it to be underwhelming in some parts of the song. Of course, my opinion on the song will change with more listens. But right now, I find it to be okay.

Best Debut Of The Week: Here With Me by Marshmello featuring CHVRCHES

Don’t Blurb Me Up
– As far as our exits go, good riddance to Hurts Like Hell and Lucid Dreams, especially the latter. That one was long overdue and I’m glad that I genuinely don’t have to suffer through this song again. Hurts Like Hell was a step down to Home With You, which I liked. I’m glad that one didn’t become a hit. The only exit I’m sad about is Swan Song. I feel like that one deserved better. But of course, I guess people have decided it’s time to move on from Dua Lipa. Oh well.

– We get a Top 5 entrant from Better by Khalid. It’s a good song, but I don’t really think it’s worthy of the #1 spot, unlike Love Lies which I enjoyed. Still, anything is better than our current #1 song.

– The big jump from Lash Hurrah is very pleasing. This is one of Bebe Rexha’s better songs and that is more deserving of being a hit. I hope it can keep jumping.

Breakouts/On The Verge:

  • Hey Look Ma, I Made It by Panic! At The Disco
  • Out Of Love by Alessia Cara
  • When The Party’s Over by Billie Eilish

Extras/Optional Extras:

Songs That Debuted This Week One Year Ago:
Delicate by Taylor Swift: This was the only song from Reputation to actually do well chart-wise, in part because it’s the type of song people like to hear from her. I like her voice and the production is solid. After much thought, I can now say that it’s one of my favorite singles from her album.
Psycho by Post Malone featuring Ty Dolla $ign: While it’s not as bad as Rockstar, I find this to be simply underwhelming all around. Ty Dolla $ign doesn’t contribute to the song at all, and Post Malone doesn’t sound good with his voice. Not helping matters is the production, which is pretty lifeless.

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Lady Gaga featuring Bradley Cooper – Shallow (+21)

New Entrants:
– So, we’ve got two new entrants to cover for this week. First, we have newcomer Austin Brown with the song In Betweenin’. I feel like the song had potential to be solid, but overall it didn’t quite do it for me. The production is good and I like the beat. But Austin’s voice is just a little too childish, and that’s what bought it down for me. I don’t have much more I can say beyond that. So yeah, the song is okay. But his voice just needs a little work.

– Next is the comeback single from P!NK after about a year. This time, she brings us Walk Me Home. I’ve been a fan of P!NK ever since she was relevant at the start of the 21st Century. Songs like Get The Party Started, Raise Your Glass, and Just Give Me A Reason are all very good songs. Walk Me Home is a little weaker compared to those songs, though it’s definitely a good song for the most part. I like her voice as usual, and the lyrics are pretty solid. The production is good, though not quite as amazing. It may not stick with me in the long run, but right now I’m enjoying this.

Best Debut Of The Week: P!NK – Walk Me Home

Blurb Me Home In The Dead Of Night
– We’ll start with our two exits. First, Sue Me wasn’t very interesting, so I’m kinda glad that it left. But then there’s Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, which was a good comeback single for the Backstreet Boys. It was nice to hear from them again after a long while. The song showed me that they can still make good music and their new album is pretty solid. It had a good run while it lasted. The song will be missed by me.

– And just like that, the Jonas Brothers hit #1 in its third week with Sucker. They have now tied the record for the fastest rise to #1 with Adele – Hello, which first accomplished this feat on November 14, 2015. I have a feeling now that it’s taken the top spot, it’s going to be there for a long while. I really don’t see any song that’ll be able to compete with it (except for maybe Who Do You Love). I do like the song for the time being, so I’m perfectly fine with this.

– Speaking of Who Do You Love, the song has now reached the Top 5. And with that, The Chainsmokers have replaced themselves in the Top 10. And I’m cool with this because I love the song overall. Normally, I would envision this one being a #1 song at some point in time. Well, I think it still could. But because of our current #1 song, it’ll probably be difficult. We’ll see how its tenure in the Top 5 plays out.

– On the note of other Top 5 entrants, we get a re-entry from…High Hopes? Seriously? I mean, don’t get me wrong. I still like the song. But I think this is becoming a little too much for a song that’s died out elsewhere. But of course, Hits 1 just can’t seem to let go of anything related to Panic! At The Disco. Oh well.

– Also in the Top 10 is the re-entry of 7 Rings (Blech) and the arrival of Bad Liar (Yahoo!). I’m glad that Bad Liar was able to enter the Top 10 unlike Machine, which was a mess. It’s probably the best song off of Origins. I hope it ends up staying up there for a while.

Shallow’s second run on the countdown is getting off to a good start, as it has taken a massive jump into the Top 20 this week. It’s nice to have the song gain back some momentum after hitting #1 on Billboard Hot 100.

– It’s about time 2002 made that big drop. Even though it was only a small biggest drop, this was overdue for some time. I would appreciate it if the song started to leave soon.

Entrant Reviews:
– Remember Ciara? Well, she’s back. And this time, she brings us her new single titled Thinkin Bout You. This song is a jam. I love her voice in this one and the production. Everything about the song is just catchy. I’ll have more words for when it inevitably debuts.
– Next is a song that’s been around for a while. It’s from Lizzo and she brings us some Juice. This song is pretty cool. It reminds me of the throwback music that I would hear from the late 70’s and early 80’s. Her voice fits well for that type of song. I hope to see it debut soon.

Songs That Debuted This Week One Year Ago:
Panic! At The Disco – Say Amen (Saturday Night): This was the big return of Brendon Urie and company, and their current countdown run is still going strong. I love the way it opens up, and from there everything else would get interesting. The way Brendon can hit those high notes is just mesmerizing.
Demi Lovato – Tell Me You Love Me: This is Demi’s best song from the title album. She truly shows what she is capable of here, and the lyrical content is well written. The song deserved better, but it did have a nice run on Hits 1.

Bazzi – Mine: This is the shortest song to ever debut on the countdown. There’s quite a bit I like about this, from his voice all the way down to the interesting beat.
Bad Wolves – Zombie: Ah, yes. The cover of the original song from The Cranberries. They definitely did a nice job with this one. They remind me of Three Days Grace in a way. It was nice to see them make a tribute to the late Dolores O’Ridian.

AT40: Ariana Grande (1) – Week Of March 30, 2019

Hello, fam! So this week, I’ve started working on a personal chart of mine. The place where I can do all of that is on crownnote. Feel free to check it out! I’m still trying to play catch up when it comes to my posts, albeit slowly. Hopefully, things will be back to normal soon. Right now, here’s another late post. This was not a good week overall. Biggest Fall Of The Week: Tie between Swan Song by Dua Lipa and Sicko Mode by Travis Scott featuring Drake (–4)
Biggest Rise Of The Week: Sucker by Jonas Brothers (+16)
New Entrants:
– To kick off the debuts for the week, we have LIVVIA, whose real name is Olivia Somerlyn, making her appearance on the countdown with Damn. I don’t really have much to say about this one. I like the guitar for the most part. I think it’s pretty good. I like her voice overall. Although she doesn’t particularly stand-out in any part of the song, she sounds good for much of the song. I do somewhat like the lyrics. Overall, it’s a nice song, though it’s not something I’ll come back to in the long run.
– Our second (and final debut of the week) comes from the return of Bebe Rexha with her latest single titled Last Hurrah. Her previous singles haven’t been to my liking, with Meant To Be being a poor attempt at pop country and I’m A Mess was just literally, a mess. As far as her new song goes, it’s a step up to her predecessors. I think the production is better and the instrumentation is solid. Her voice doesn’t sound like nails down a chalkboard. In fact, she sounds better in this one. The lyrics are well-written. This is a great song overall for Bebe Rexha. I do hope to see this one become a hit.

Best Debut Of The Week: Last Hurrah by Bebe Rexha

I Ain’t Gon’ Blurb ‘Til I Go To Far
– As far as our two exits go, I’m a little disappointed by 8 Letters leaving. But at the same time, it’s not a shock at all considering Why Don’t We aren’t very relevant. I consider 8 Letters to be one of their better songs. Lie by NF lasted longer than I thought it would. I was getting a little sick of the song, so it’s not something I’ll be losing sleep over.
– We have a new #1 this week and of course it belongs to 7 Rings despite the song being absolute garbage. I adore Ariana Grande as an artist. But I’ve been questioning her direction since the release of Thank U, Next. This is Ariana hitting rock bottom. I hate this song with a fiery passion. But I have a feeling it’s going to be #1 for a while. I hope something is coming to replace it soon because this is not okay.
– Jumping to #4 this week is Close To Me. When the song first debuted, I didn’t envision it going this far, but I am pleased. It’s definitely a good comeback single for Ellie Goulding. She did recently release another song titled Flux, which is even better.
– Then, we have Dancing With A Stranger entering the Top 10 this week. I’m definitely cool with this. The song just keeps getting better with each listen. It’s one of the best Sam Smith has had to offer.
Sucker having the biggest rise of the week is no surprise at all. I have a feeling the song is going to be around for a long while given that it’s doing very well elsewhere. Could this be the song that can dethrone 7 Rings like pretty soon?

Breakouts/On The Verge:

  • Out Of Love by Alessia Cara
  • Low Key by Ally Brooke featuring Tyga
  • Hey Look Ma, I Made It by Panic! At The Disco
  • Don’t Call Me Up by Mabel

Extras/Optional Extras:

  • My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light ‘Em Up) by Fall Out Boy
  • Give Me Everything by Pitbull featuring Ne-Yo and Afrojack
  • Thnks Fr The Mmrs by Fall Out Boy
  • Centuries by Fall Out Boy

With Pete Wentz hosting the AT40 countdown for that weekend, it’s not surprising to see Fall Out Boy have songs listed as extras (with the exception of one).

Songs That Debuted This Week One Year Ago:
On The Loose by Niall Horan: One of the best singles off of Flicker. The groove is nice, and I like the guitar solo near the end. It’s too bad that one didn’t really take off, mainly because people were losing interest in Niall.
IDGAF by Dua Lipa: This is a solid follow-up to New Rules. I love the lyrics in this one, and vocally she sounds good in the chorus. The guitar is nice as well. One of the best off of her self-titled album.
No Excuses by Meghan Trainor: This was Meghan Trainor’s comeback single after a while. I don’t love the song lyrically, but I like the production to an extent, and Meghan doesn’t sound too bad with her voice.

Panic! At The Disco (3) – Week Of March 23, 2019

Hello, fam! So, I know this is very late. But I finally got this post out. I originally was going to skip this post so I could try to catch up. But I decided to go ahead and get this out of the way because there was a lot to talk about last week. Hopefully, once I catch up on all of my posts, things will be back to normal. #1 Song This Week One Year Ago: Zedd featuring Maren Morris and Grey – The Middle (3rd of 9 Weeks At #1)

Biggest DRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: Sabrina Carpenter – Sue Me (–11)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Dean Lewis – Be Alright (+7)

New Entrants:
– So during the week, we have six songs making its debut on the countdown. We do however, get a re-entry from Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper with Shallow. Since the song has started back gaining popularity following the Oscars, I do expect to see this one do well in its second tenure on this countdown.

– Our first of six entrants this week comes from a new artist named Kelsy Karter with her single titled Harry. As the song title says, it is basically about former One Direction member, Harry Styles. Apparently, she seems to have a crush on him or something like that. Anyway, as far as the song goes, I kinda like the production here. But her voice is a little annoying, especially in the chorus. The lyrical content is somewhat questionable. So yeah, I’m not a big fan of this one. It’s not too far off from being in red, so you’ll probably see me change color soon.

Madison Beer makes her return with a song that’s been around for quite a while, by the name of Hurts Like Hell. Last time, she gave us Home With You back in the summer. Even though it wasn’t anything special in the long run, I liked that song for the most part. Hurts Like Hell, on the other hand, is just bad in and of itself. Her voice doesn’t sound good in any part of the song. The production is not interesting and I don’t like the beat here. Hits 1 did edit out the verses we get from Offset. But in the end, it didn’t really matter because the song itself was not good with or without Offset. Overall, I’m not feeling the song. Hopefully, it doesn’t end up staying for too long.

– Immediately after that, we get the return of LSD (consisting of Labrinth, Sia, and Diplo) with the remix of a single, Genius, which features Lil’ Wayne. Those who’ve been following my blog since last year probably know that I’ve not been fond of what LSD had to offer. I placed Thunderclouds in My Bottom 10 Songs of 2018, where it landed at #10. Aside from that, the majority of their music is not very good. They just recently released some new music, which I’ll get to later on. As far as Genius goes, it’s not as bad as Thunderclouds or Mountains. But it’s still not very good for the most part. Their vocals are annoying, and I don’t like Lil’ Wayne’s verses in the song at all. I’ll give it to them that the production is okay even though it didn’t stand out. That’s probably the only redeeming quality I can say about the song. Overall, this is just not good. Let’s move on.

– Next, we have the return of Maren Morris with her new single, GIRL! It was this time last year that she was riding high with the success of The Middle, which as you can recall was my #1 favorite song of 2018, and it just so happens that it was Hits 1’s #1 of last year. And to this day, I still hold the 100% unpopular opinion on that song. GIRL is honestly just amazing. I absolutely adore Maren’s voice throughout the song. She definitely shows what she is capable of. I like the production and the instrumentation is very nice. The song basically talks about female empowerment and I have a thing for songs like this. Overall, I absolutely LOVE the song and I’m glad that it’s finally here! She just recently released her new album, which is actually titled GIRL. I haven’t really heard the album in full yet, but I’m interested to see what she has in store!

– Shortly following that, we get another new entrant that I’m excited about as well. Meghan Trainor makes her return with the song titled All The Ways. This is from her latest EP titled The Love Train. Her album, Treat Myself, hasn’t came out yet for whatever reason we don’t really know yet. If you’ve been watching some television, then you’ve probably heard this song used on Target commercials. Anyway, I love everything about the song and I personally think Meghan Trainor is talented. Her voice sounds good in the chorus and I like the instrumentation here. The music video is pretty cool in which it shows a girl being in a relationship with a white bear. Overall, I’m a big fan of this one and I would like to see it do well.

– With the highest debut of the week, we have more of Halsey with her current boyfriend, YUNGBLUD and they are collaborating with Travis Barker of blink-182 in their single called 11 Minutes. I’d say this is a step up from Without Me, both from a vocal standpoint and in terms of the production. I love Halsey’s voice throughout the song. Here, she doesn’t get drenched in auto-tune and she shows what she is capable of. The instrumentation is solid. I like the work that Travis Barker does. Although I don’t listen to much of Blink-182’s music, he showed me that he’s a good drummer. So yeah, I’m in love with the song and I hope to see it last long.

Best Debut Of The Week: Maren Morris – GIRL

Darlin’, Tell Me All The Blurbs
– We’ll begin with our exits. First off, Broken had a nice run on this countdown. But I wasn’t too sad to see it go. Shotgun and Grip were fading on me a little bit, so I’m kinda happy about their departures. Limitless and Sexual Vibe were solid songs and I personally think they were underrated. But the two exits that saddened me the most were You Say and Tell Me It’s Over. The former was enjoyable even though many criticize Lauren Daigle for being an Adele ripoff, and it looks set to make the Year-End for the Billboard Hot 100. The latter was definitely amazing and it was nice to see Avril Lavigne back after so long. Tell Me It’s Over will definitely be missed by me.

– Well, the Jonas Brothers missed out on beating the record for quickest rise to #1, which is still held by Adele with Hello. It’ll certainly get to #1 next week (which it already has as I’m typing this).

Be Alright makes its entry into the Top 10 this week. I do still like the song, mainly for its lyrics. But I’m starting to slightly lose interest in it. So I would prefer if it didn’t stay too long in the Top 10.

7 Rings being in the Top 5 was short-lived as it dropped out of the Top 10 entirely, which I’m very happy about. Though, I’m sure it’ll get back up there again soon, which I don’t want.

Sue Me had the biggest drop of the week, and that’s okay because I don’t really find the song that interesting. Sabrina Carpenter has never really been the one to impress me with her music.

– It appears that Love Lies is finally starting to die out following its drop down to the Bottom 5. It had an incredible run and I’m glad that it was a success everywhere. We’ll see how long it holds out.

Entrant Reviews:
– So, we have two new songs entering Hit-Bound this week. We’ll start with more of Marshmello, who this time collaborates with the band CHVRCHES in their new single Here With Me. This is a step up from his previous singles. It’s not as good as Wolves, but there is a lot to like about this one. Lauren Mayberry sounds good with her voice. I think she stands out in the chorus. The production is pretty neat and I like what Marshmello is doing. Here, he is not as lazy and he put forth the effort in that department. Overall, this is a nice song. I do hope we see it make its debut soon.

– I figured Ava Max would end up releasing a new single at some point in time following the success of Sweet But Psycho, and sure enough that’s what ended up happening. She brings us So Am I. This sounds similar to Sweet But Psycho, except it’s not quite as good. I do like her voice here and the production is good. My only concern is that it lacks something that makes it special. I do like the song for the most part, but it may not stick with me in the long run.

Song Reviews:
– So, I have a bunch of songs that I want to review. So, buckle up everyone. We have Benny Blanco with a new single of his. This time around, he collaborates with Tainy, Selena Gomez, and J. Balvin in I Can’t Get Enough. Right off the bat, the song isn’t very interesting. I don’t like the production here. It is pretty underwhelming and I’m not feeling the Latin vibe. The verses we get from these artists are not good. So yeah, this is pretty bad. It’s a shame how much he has regressed since the release of I Found You, which was mediocre. I want something more along the lines of Eastside, not this.

– Immediately after that, we have LSD with their brand new single titled No New Friends. This is a step up from what they have in terms of their music. Their vocals are slightly better and I kinda like the production in a way. I can say this is probably the most tolerable song they have so far, especially given that I’m not very fond of music.

– We get an interesting collaboration between Clean Bandit and Ellie Goulding with their latest single titled Mama. I’m a big fan of both of these artists and this song pretty much showed me why. Ellie’s voice is amazing throughout the song and I love the production here. It shows just how talented Clean Bandit are as an EDM band. Yeah, I’m in love with the song.

– Next, we have a collaboration between Sofia Reyes, Anitta, and Rita Ora in their single titled R.I.P.. The production is okay, but I find their vocals to be a little underwhelming in the verses and the chorus. Not much else I can say beyond that.

– We have more of Juice WRLD, and this time he brings us Hear Me Calling. It’s really not that different compared to Lucid Dreams, which was terrible overall. I’m not a fan of his voice although it not as annoying, and everything else about the song from the production to the lyrics is not good. Hopefully, it doesn’t end up becoming a hit like its predecessor. NEXT!

J. Balvin appears in another song on the YouTube 15, this time collaborating with Sean Paul in Contra. I can’t say I’m feeling this one at the moment. I don’t quite like their vocals here and I’m not big on the Latin vibe. This is based on my initial reaction since I’ve only heard it once. I’ll probably have to listen to it again to get a full opinion on the song.

– Up next, we have a collaboration between Lil’ Pump and Lil’ Wayne in their new single, Be Like Me. These two artists working together can only mean bad things will result, and after hearing the song in its entirety that’s what ended up happening. The lyrical content is asinine across the board. It’s basically them bragging about stuff and what not. Their vocals are terrible. I can’t think of a single part where these guys sound good. The production and the beat are not very interesting at all. Simply put, this song is shit. Here’s to hoping it doesn’t end up being a big hit. NEXT!

– Finally, we have Julia Michaels with another new single, by the name of Deep. I’m not really the biggest fan of most of her music. Deep is really not that different in comparison to her previous singles. Her voice is not all that interesting. I do kinda like the production somewhat, and the songwriting is okay. I don’t have much else I can say about the song overall.

Songs That Debuted This Week One Year Ago:
Charlie Puth featuring Kehlani – Done For Me: This is probably the best song both Charlie and Kehlani have done so far in his career. Their chemistry together is just awesome and I love the groove.
Noah Kahan featuring Julia Michaels – Hurt Somebody: There isn’t much to the song. I like the guitar, but I’m not a big fan of the chorus. Yeah, this is not all that memorable in the long run.
Shawn Mendes – In My Blood: Ah yes, Shawn Mendes’s comeback of last year. It was this time one year ago that he also hosted the countdown and the song immediately made its debut just two days after of its release.
Taylor Swift – Delicate: After her first three singles from Reputation ended up not doing so well, this one was loved by many. This is pretty low key, but I like pretty much everything about the song in general. This was my #9 favorite song of 2018.
