– For the third week in a row, we have a song that’s debuted in the Top 20. We have more of Halsey (who hosted the countdown for this week) with her brand new single, in the form of Nightmare. I’m sure there are many who are tired of Halsey at this moment. But for me, I don’t mind hearing more music from her. As far as her new single goes, I think it’s a bit of a step up from Without Me. I can say the production is better than that of its predecessor. Halsey sounds good here. She doesn’t sound grating in the chorus. However, I do think the lyrical content is kinda questionable. But it doesn’t affect my thoughts on the song very much. Overall, it’s a good song, though I can’t see it sticking with me.

I Keep A Record Of The Blurbs In My Life
– Our only exit this week comes from Dumb Blonde. I do still like the song, but I’m not surprised about it leaving given that Avril Lavigne is not relevant. It’s pretty sad she hasn’t had a big hit since I don’t know how long.

– So yeah, Besides Hasley hosting the countdown, nothing interesting really happened this week. The big movers this week are from two songs. Bury A Friend dropped big and Let Me Down Slowly made a big jump (though not by much).

– In this week’s edition of Hit-Bound, we have Push Baby with a song called Mama’s House. Believe it or not, They were actually called Rixton, who had a big hit in the form of Me And My Broken Heart back in 2014. I do like the vocals there. But I don’t really love the lyrics and the production is not that great. Overall, this is an okay song.

– Next, the band In Real Life are back with their latest single titled Crazy AF. It’s a little bit of a step up from Tattoo (How ‘Bout You) as far as the production goes, though it is still not quite as good. Probably one of the few good things about it is their voice, and that’s about it.

– Finally, we have more of 5 Seconds Of Summer with their new single, Easier. This is a little more slower-paced than Youngblood. I like that they’re going for a different sound. I think they sound good with their vocals overall. I’ll have more on this when it debuts.

– To start our new round of arrivals, we have Billie Eilish with two new songs entering the countdown. The first of which is When The Party’s Over. Unlike most people here in the blogging community, I am fond of what Billie has to offer. This song is a good example of why. She has a unique & mysterious voice, and it fits her well for a song like this. I like the way it opens up. While there’s virtually nothing to the production, her voice certainly makes up for it.

– Next, she gives us Bad Guy. Like I just mentioned, she has a mysterious voice and I think she uses it well in the song. The only difference between this one and When The Party’s Over is that Bad Guy is a little more fast-paced. I also like the production and the beat. However, I don’t think it was necessary to change the pace when we got to the bridge. But that doesn’t affect my thoughts on the song. I think both songs from Billie Eilish are really good. I’m glad she is having some success. She deserves it.

– So, it was only a few months ago that Jennifer Lopez had Limitless on the countdown. I liked that song overall even though it wasn’t quite her best work. This week, she gives us her new single, and she collaborates with French Montana in Medicine. I don’t have much to say about the song. I don’t love the lyrics, but everything else about the song is just great. The beat is just catchy and I like Jennifer’s voice. It shows that she can still sing well and she hasn’t lost a step. I also like the verse we get from French Montana. So yeah, I’m in love with the song overall.

– It was only a matter of time before Shawn Mendes made his comeback. He makes his return with his brand new single titled If I Can’t Have You. It was around this time last year that Shawn just released his self-titled album. It consisted of In My Blood, which was the lead single, and two other songs I loved (Lost In Japan (both the original and the remix) and Youth). As far as his new single goes, I’m in love with it. The song reminds me a lot of There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back, which was my #5 best song of 2017. I definitely like the instrumentation here and the Latin vibe is great. Shawn sounds good with his voice. It is smooth and it fits him well. The lyrics are nicely written. Overall, this is a great comeback for Shawn. I’m sure it’ll end up doing well on the countdown.

If I Can’t Have Blurbs
– We’ll begin with our exits. To start, In Betweenin’ was something I would like because I thought the production was good. But his voice ruined it for me, so I’m okay with it departing. Eastside and Sunflower both had a nice run. It was good to see them get some success. Finally, 2002 was long overdue. I may have liked that one at first, but it did not stick with me and it stayed longer than it should have. It’s about time that one left.

– A lot of songs dropped big that week. First off, Shallow fell down into the Bottom 5. When the song first made its re-entry, I thought it might end up going into the Top 10 at least. But its momentum has stalled once more. It’s too bad its second tenure is coming to a close.

– 11 Minutes also took a massive drop this week. One would think this may end up being at least a minor hit given that Halsey has become relevant lately. But that’s unfortunately not the case, and it’s pretty sad because it’s a good song overall. Oh well.

– And of course, Last Hurrah would end up having the Biggest DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week. Very disappointing, since it is vastly superior than I’m A Mess in every way. But of course, that one ended up doing well on Hits 1. It’s a shame that I can’t always get what I want.

– Now, let’s get to the songs that jumped big this week. Someone You Loved and Boy With Luv (which is now in the Top 20) both made big moves upward. The former is not very interesting if I do say so myself. As for the latter, it’s just simply not good and I’m not a big fan of BTS. It appears that Hits 1 is going to hold on to this for while, even though I don’t like the song.

Foster The People – Sit Next To Me: It was nice of these guys to make their comeback after a while. I can’t say this was quite as good as Pumped Up Kicks, but I like what the song had to offer.
Dua Lipa – IDGAF: Although this is inferior compared to New Rules, I think her unique voice is what I love most about the song. The lyrics are nicely written as well. This was my #24 favorite song of 2018. At least Hits 1 held on to this one for a good while, while it flopped elsewhere.

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Ciara – Thinkin Bout You (+9)

New Entrants:
– Brendon Urie has two songs making its debut this week. First, his band, Panic! At The Disco, have yet another single from Pray For The Wicked titled Dancing’s Not A Crime. One of the things I like about Brendon Urie is that he has a excellent voice and he shows it in his songs most of the time. This is no exception. The chorus here is great and I like the production quite a bit. However, I can do without the chipmunk voices in the background. I think they’re quite annoying, but that doesn’t affect my thoughts on the song overall. I do expect to see it sticking around for a while, because hello: Hits 1 still loves Brendon Urie. And I’m cool with that.

– Up next is the collaboration between K-Pop boy band BTS and Hits 1 favorite, Halsey with their latest single titled Boy With Luv. I did a brief review on the song when it debuted on Hit-Bound a month ago. To sum it all up, I’m not really a big fan of BTS and I don’t really buy the hype. I guess the production is okay. But my problem with the song is that they don’t sound good with their voices and I don’t like the verse after the chorus. I think he sounds obnoxious there. And Halsey herself didn’t add much to the song either. She only sings in the chorus, and that’s about it. Overall, this is just not a good song and I hope it doesn’t stay for a long time.

– And finally, we have the long-awaited return of Taylor Swift! And guess what? She is collaborating with Hits 1 favorite, Brendon Urie in their brand new single titled ME!. The last time we heard from Taylor was when she gave us Reputation. I thought was decent despite it not being nearly as good as 1989, which I think is her best album in my eyes. ME! goes in a different direction in contrast to Look What You Made Me Do, which I’m a little indifferent on. It’s a happy, upbeat song that reminds me of the singles from her 1989 album. She sounds good with her voice as always. Although Brendon Urie doesn’t add a whole lot to the song, I think he did well with his verse. These guys have great chemistry together. The lyrics aren’t great, but I do like the production and the catchy beat. Overall, this is a solid comeback for Taylor Swift. It’ll be interesting to see it hit #1 on Hits 1, which I’m sure it will.

Blurbing’s Not A Crime
– As far as our exits go, Wait For You wasn’t really memorable, so I’m kinda happy about its departure. I was growing out of Natural, but it did have a nice tenure here. Undrunk left a little sooner than I expected. I thought it might end up becoming a sleeper hit, but it just didn’t happen.

– It was nice to see Low Key take a massive drop that weekend. That song was just a disappointment for Ally Brooke. She did recently release her latest single titled Lips Don’t Lie, which I think is better.

– On the note of drops, it appears that High Hopes is finally starting to die out. We’re getting close to its one-year anniversary of being on the countdown. I have a feeling it may end up lasting a year, much like some of the other songs did in the past.

– We get a brand new Top 10 entrant in the form of Walk Me Home. I’m not sure how I feel about this. While I do like the song, it is nowhere near her best work. I guess I’m okay with it staying there, but I’ll probably end up getting sick of it fairly quickly.

New Entrants:
– So, we have two songs that debuted straight to the countdown this week. First up is newcomer Lewis Capaldi with a piano ballad called Someone You Loved. I do like what the song is supposed to be about. It basically talks about love and we’ve have a lot of songs like these nowadays. I think his voice is okay, but he doesn’t really stand out to me. But I do like the piano work here and the lyrics are nicely done. I might grow into this one, but I don’t see it sticking with me in the long run.

– Next, Alessia Cara returns with her latest single titled Out Of Love. Earlier, she gave us Growing Pains, which I did like. But then, there was Trust My Lonely, which was not good and thus was one of my least favorite singles from her. As far as her album goes, I was pretty mixed on it for the most part. But Out Of Love is a good song. Like Someone You Loved, this one is also a piano ballad. I like her voice in this one, and the lyrics are nice. I’ve been a fan of Alessia, and I can say I kinda like the song overall.

– We have the return of NOTD, and they’re collaborating with Felix Jaehn, Captain Cuts, and Georgia Ku in their latest single titled So Close. Last year, the EDM duo introduced themselves to the world when they collaborated with Bea Miller in I Wanna Know. I did like that one at first, but I realized it wasn’t all that special. As far as So Close goes, I think it’s a step up from that. Production-wise, I like the beat and I think these guys did a nice job in that aspect. My concern is that I’m not a big fan of Georgia Ku’s voice. I don’t think she stands out. While it is better than its predecessor, it’s not really something I’ll come back to in the long run.

– Up next, we have the return of MAX and he teams up with Quinn XCII with Love Me Less. I’m not really the biggest fan of what MAX has to offer when it comes to his music. I will say that Love Me Less is better than Lights Down Low. I like his voice here, but I’m not feeling the production and the beat isn’t too interesting. Quinn XCII doesn’t really contribute to much of the song. Overall, I find this to be okay. It’s not really special.

– The best debut of the week comes from Billie Eilish, and she makes her very first appearance with Bury A Friend. Unlike most people in the blogging community, I’m actually into her music. I think she has a mysterious voice and she uses it well, though it took me a while to grow into the song. Sure, there may not be much to the production. But it is really her voice that impresses me, even though it doesn’t sit well with most people. So yeah, I really like this and I hope it can stick around.

Would You Blurb Me Less?
– We’ll start with our exits. First, we have two songs that’ll be missed by me. Miss Me More was something I loved and is one of Kelsea’s best solo singles, and GIRL was an amazing lead single for Maren’s latest album. It’s too bad both of them didn’t do very well. I do like Please Me as well, but I’m too disappointed about it leaving, seeing as that one never really took off. Love Lies and Youngblood have both been here for a while, but they did have great countdown runs so I’m happy with their respective success.

– It was nice to see 2002 fall all the way to the bottom of the countdown. That song has definitely overstayed its welcome. I do wish the song would end up leaving soon.

– Dumb Blonde took quite a big drop in its third week of its tenure. I would say I’m disappointed about this. But given that not very many people care about Avril Lavigne right now, I’m not all that surprised.

– Can we please not with Happier and Let Me Down Slowly?!?! Why are they jumping? Hopefully, Hits 1 can fix this soon because this is seriously not okay. We have better songs that deserve to be in the Top 10 than these two.
