Top 10 Songs from Madonna

Today is a very special day for one of the world’s biggest pop icons.  I would like to say Happy Birthday to music legend, Madonna!  She is widely referred to as the “Queen Of Pop” and has been killing it ever since.  In honor of her birthday today, I’ve decided to list my top 10 favorite songs from Madonna.  Here they are:

10. Frozen (from Ray Of Light (album))

9. Open Your Heart (from True Blue)

8. Holiday (from Madonna (album))

7. Like A Prayer (from Like A Prayer (album))

6. Live To Tell (from True Blue)

5. Express Yourself (from Like A Prayer (album))

4. Ray Of Light (from Ray Of Light (album))

3. Vogue (from I’m Breathless))

2. Like A Virgin (from Like A Virgin (album))

1. Into The Groove (from Like A Virgin (album))

And that’s pretty much my favorite songs from Madonna.  As always, let me know what you think of the list in the comments section below.  I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my post!

New Entrants
– Our first debut this week comes from returning artist Demi Lovato with her new single Sorry Not Sorry. It looks like she’s going with a more EDM production than in her previous singles. It’s basically a kiss-off to the haters.  As for the rest of the song, I do think Demi sounds good here. However, the chorus is a bit of a turn off, in part because it’s a little louder. While it’s no Cool For The Summer, Confident, or even Really Don’t Care for the matter, it’s still a solid song. Overall, I kinda like this for now.

– Anyone tired of The Chainsmokers yet? Well, too bad, because they have replaced themselves with their new single Honest. Now, I won’t quite go there and say it’s as good as its predecessors, but this song show how good Andrew Taggart is at singing. This song is just about wanting to be honest in a relationship. The lyrics do make sense here. Will this be another hit for The Chainsmokers? We’ll have to wait and see, but I can see myself putting this in green soon.

– Last but not least, we have our best debut of the week. After about 4 years, we finally have the return of Kesha with what is probably the best comeback single we’ve have heard all year, which is titled Praying. It’s been a while since we’ve heard new music from her, especially since her lawsuit against Dr. Luke a few years ago. But today, she is back, and I’ll say these four words: this song is epic. Now, I’ll put in more detail. Despite Kesha going with a more piano ballad than an upbeat pop song, she still pulled it off perfectly. It starts off slow, but as the song progresses, we hear the powerful chorus kick in. I’m definitely in love with Kesha’s vocals, the piano is very well done, the lyrics are nearly perfect, and the rest of the production is excellent. From what I’ve heard, many critics are calling it one of the best songs of the year, and I definitely agree. Much like with Katy Perry, I’ve been a fan of her music since the beginning of this decade, with songs such as Tik Tok, We R Who We R, Die Young, and many more. Overall, this is easily one of the best songs of the year and I hope it does well. Making things even better is that it replaces one of the worst songs that many of us have been waiting for to leave. More on that in bit. But again, Praying is a near-flawless comeback single for Kesha, period.
I Hope You’re Somewhere Blurbin’, Blurbin’
– We’ll begin with the exits as always. First off, I’m deeply saddened that we’ve lost both Sooner Or Later and Paris. Of course, Sooner Or Later wasn’t gaining traction elsewhere, so it was not a surprise to see that one leave. However, Paris left sooner than expected, especially from a high position at #28. I thought it was going to stay longer like some of the other songs on the countdown, but I guess I was wrong. Both of these songs will be missed, at least by me. On a positive note, we must now celebrate as Don’t Wanna Know has finally left the countdown! Good riddance! I will not miss you in the slightest!

– Before introducing Stay Together, Spyder Harrison mentioned that Miley Cyrus’s sister Noah is the worst at texting people back. Heh, I mean, really? I don’t think you’re going to get many friends when you treat people like this, but I guess that’s her personality.

– Before introducing Crying In The Club, Spyder Harrison mentioned that Camila Cabello wants to go to Rio with her friends. He also mentioned that she hasn’t been on vacation in such a long time. I guess when you’re a celebrity, you don’t get as many vacations, sadly.

– I would appreciate if Starving were to leave soon. It has been here for a long time and not that many people enjoy this song anymore (except for WAMB10). As much as I really love Haliee Steinfeld as an artist, this song comes nowhere near her best work. Here’s to hoping she does better.

– Before introducing Sign Of The Times, Spyder Harrison mentioned that during an interview with Mikey Piff, Harry Styles has said that the members of One Direction being successful as solo artists was the best thing that’s ever happened to them. I’ll say that’s some pretty kind words from him, in part because Harry and its members were basically like a family.

– I’m thrilled to see Closer still here. It’s one week away from lasting a year on the countdown. C’mon, voters!  Let’s make it happen!

– Before introducing I’m The One, Spyder Harrison mentioned that after canceling the rest of his tour, Justin Bieber was just chilling and relaxing. At one point, he was watching the PGA Championship. Now that my friends, is a good way to rest from all that touring he’s been doing lately.

– All of the songs from #35-#31 (excluding our debuts) held their positions this week.

– I’m not necessarily pleased to see Weak make a shocking jump back into the Top 30. I’m very close to putting it in red, so I’m hoping it drops back down soon.

– Before introducing The Cure, Spyder Harrison mentioned that Lady Gaga actually served as a substitute teacher for a local middle school. That sounds pretty cool. There’s a YouTube video on that also. I heard this is part of a campaign to raise money for the Born This Way Foundation.

– Before introducing Strip That Down, Spyder Harrison mentioned that when Liam Payne got his haircut, his fans went crazy on social media. Not only that, but I heard his girlfriend likes it, too. It goes to show that he’s still a popular celebrity around the globe.

Despacito made a massive jump into the Top 5 this week. I have a feeling it will hit #1 here, also, given that it’s still gaining ground. I’m hearing that it’ll break the record for most weeks at #1 on Billboard. Question is, will it actually do it? We’ll have to find out.

– Speaking of #1, we have Believer still at the top spot. A part of me wants Despacito to take over now, what with it still dominating the charts now. Still, I don’t mind Believer spending another week at #1 if it wants to.

Hit-Bound

Macklemore featuring Skylar Grey – Glorious

The All American Rejects – Sweat
P!NK – What About Us (DEBUT)
Ed Sheeran – Galway Girl
Cheat Codes featuring Demi Lovato – No Promises (DEBUT)
Imagine Dragons – Thunder
Halsey – Bad At Love (DEBUT)
The Revivalists – Wish I Knew You
Rita Ora – Your Song
Zedd featuring Liam Payne – Get Low
Andy Grammer – Give Love
Bebe Rexha – The Way I Are (Dance With Somebody)
Hey Violet – Hoodie (DEBUT)
Harry Styles – Two Ghosts

– We have quite a shake-up on Hit-Bound with four new songs entering this week. First, we’ll begin with Demi Lovato who replaced herself with her collaboration with Cheat Codes in their single No Promises. I do think the beat drop and their vocals sounds pretty good, even if it’s not their best work thus far. It’s a little closer to green than it is to red. It’ll probably be there with more listens.

– Next up, we have more Halsey, in the form of Bad At Love. Now, this song is quite a big step up from Now Or Never, as her new single has more to it. The production and her vocals sound much better here. More words when it debuts.

– Then, we have Hey Violet once again, this time with their new single Hoodie. Not much I can say about this one, but I’m sure many people will like this one better than Break My Heart and Guys My Age, in part because the vocals sound good here.

– Finally, P!NK has released her comeback single titled What About Us. Now, to put it easy, I’m in love with this song. Sure, it’s not as good as her previous singles, but I can live with this. I’ll say more about this when it debuts soon.

My Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Ed Sheeran – Galway Girl
2. Halsey – Bad At Love
3. P!NK – What About Us
4. Macklemore featuring Skylar Grey – Glorious
5. Imagine Dragons – Thunder

YouTube 15

For this week, I’ve decided to review the YouTube 15. Here are the songs that are trending this week:

Sam Hunt – Body Like A Back Road
Martin Garrix featuring Troye Sivan – There For You
Madison Beer – Dead
DJ Khaled featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller – Wild Thoughts
Charli XCX – Boys
Luis Fonsi featuring Justin Bieber and Daddy Yankee – Despacito
Alan Walker featuring Gavin James – Tired
Ed Sheeran – Shape Of You
Jax Jones featuring Demi Lovato and Stefflon Don – Instruction
Charlie Puth – Attention
Rudimental featuring James Arthur – Sun Comes Up
Bruno Mars – That’s What I Like
Camila Cabello featuring Young Thug – Havana
DJ Khaled featuring Justin Bieber and Chance the Rapper – I’m The One
Dua Lipa – New Rules

– I’m not even going to comment on the fact that Body Like A Back Road somehow made it to the YouTube 15. Out of all the country songs out there, this one had to gain popularity.

– I’m not a fan of Camila Cabello’s new single Havana, which features Young Thug. It has the same generic rapping that flooding the charts nowadays, and Camila Cabello’s somewhat decent vocals can’t save this song from me putting it in red. Overall, it’s not her best choice for her next single. NEXT!

– I can’t really say I’m a fan of Madison Beer’s single, which is titled Dead. While her vocals sound good, the rest of the song is underwhelming to say the least. I personally think there are better songs out there.

Charli XCX released a new single titled Boys. While it’s a step up from the terrible After The Afterparty, it’s still nothing when compared to Boom Clap. The vocals and production aren’t all that good. It’s closer to red than it is to green.

– Next we have more Demi Lovato once again, this time collaborating with Jax Jones and Stefflon Don with their latest single Instruction. Now, it’s slightly better than some of the other songs mentioned above, but I’m not really a fan of Demi’s super fast vocals, which makes it hard for me to understand the lyrics. I’m sure she’s done better.

Dua Lipa has recently released her new single titled New Rules. I don’t quite think it’s as good as Blow Your Mind (Mwah), but I still like it for what it is. I wonder will this actually be a huge hit for her? I’m hoping so.

– Probably the best new song trending right now is Sun Comes Up, which is sung by returning artist James Arthur collaborating with Rudimental. This song showcases James Arthur’s vocals and he’s proven that he can sing. I do like the EDM production Rudimental has put together. Overall, I think this a great song for both artists and I’m hoping it keeps trending for a little longer.

– I’m actually not surprised to see Shape Of You and That’s What I Like still trending, especially considering they’re still somewhat popular. Despacito making the list is also not surprising; it’s still gaining enormous popularity and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. And that’s perfectly fine by me as I still enjoy this song a lot lately.

My Top 5 YouTube 15 Picks
1. Luis Fonsi featuring Justin Bieber and Daddy Yankee – Despacito
2. DJ Khaled featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller – Wild Thoughts
3. Bruno Mars – That’s What I Like
4. Rudimental featuring James Arthur – Sun Comes Up
5. Charlie Puth – Attention

Songs That Debuted This Week One Year Ago:
Fifth Harmony – All In My Head (Flex): This is quite a cool single, especially during the summer when going to the beach. The girls actually sound better than they did in Work From Home. It’s too bad Hits 1 edited out the vocals from Fetty Wap, who actually contributes to the song. That said, I kinda wish it did better than only lasting 5 weeks here.
TWENTY ØNE PILØTS – Heathens: Taken from the Suicide Squad movie soundtrack, this song got mixed reactions from the blogging community. However, I definitely enjoyed the new sound when compared to other songs such as Tear In My Heart, Stressed Out, & Ride. I’m very pleased that this became another big hit for this band and I’m hoping they make some more singles like this soon.

New Entrants
– Our first of two entrants comes from Khalid with his new single Location.  Honestly, I don’t get what people like about this song.  It’s just another boring rap song that doesn’t get my attention.  I’m not a fan of his vocals at all, and the lyrics are just as bad.  Here’s to hoping it leaves soon.  NEXT!

– Finally, we have the return of Kesha with her new single titled Praying.  It’s been a long while since we’ve heard new music from her, in part because of her lawsuit against Dr. Luke.  But today, she’s back at making music.  Now, despite this single being a slow ballad, this is the best comeback single for Kesha and probably the best we’ve had all year.  I’ll talk more about this on the Hits 1 Weekend Countdown when it debuts there.

I Had To Learn How To Blurb For Myself
– I don’t know about you, but I’m so ready for both Congratulations to leave already.  Seriously, his vocals are grating and it’s only gotten worse after each listen.

– I’m quite surprised to see Rockabye still on this countdown.  It may have lost its popularity a long time ago, but I don’t really mind if it stays for another week or so.

– Of course, Body Like A Back Road would jump big this week.  I really hate that this song is still getting popular when there are better country songs out there.

– As far as our exits go this week, I’m sad about HUMBLE. leaving.  Bad Liar, on the other hand, I’m thrilled to see it leave, though I’m quite shocked that it left from a really high position at #15.  If I’m correct, this is the highest drop off in AT 40 history.

Extras/Optional Extras

Here, I’ll list the songs that have played as either an Extra or Optional Extra.  Below is the color code I will use:

Purple – Best Song
Green – Great
Blue – Good
Pink – Decent
Yellow – Mediocre
Turquoise – Bad
Red – Awful
Orange – Worst Song

With that in mind, here are the songs they’ve played as extras:

The Cure by Lady Gaga
Heathens by TWENTY ØNE PILØTS
Crying In The Club by Camila Cabello
Maps by Maroon 5
Weak by AJR
Problem by Ariana Grande
Bad Romance by Lady Gaga

Breakout/On The Verge

This is just like Hit-Bound in which I’ll list the songs that are bubbling under.  I’ll use the same color code above.  Here are the songs they played:

Know No Better by Major Lazer featuring Travis Scott, Camila Cabello, and Quavo
Sorry Not Sorry by Demi Lovato
Symphony by Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson

5,000 Pageview Special: Top 10 Songs from Whitney Houston

What’s up, guys?  This is my special 5,000th Pageview post.  I’ve decided to dedicate my post by doing my very first Top 10 songs series.  Every once in while whenever I’m not doing the Weekend Countdown, I plan on doing a list of my Top 10 songs from various artists.  Today, I’m going to begin by looking at one of biggest artists of all time.

On this day, August 9, 1963, a pop superstar was born.  And not just any star; her name was Whitney Houston.  Today would’ve been her 54th birthday.  She had a profound impact in the music industry, selling over 170 million albums and winning 7 Grammy Awards.  I had grown up listening to Whitney Houston since childhood.  So, I’ve decided to share with you guys my Top 10 favorite songs from Whitney Houston.  Here they are:
10. You Give Good Love (from Whitney Houston (album))

9. I Look To You (from I Look To You (album))

8. Greatest Love Of All (from Whitney Houston (album))

7. So Emotional (from Whitney)

6. I’m Your Baby Tonight (from I’m Your Baby Tonight)

5. I’m Every Woman (from The Body: Original Soundtrack Album)

4. How Will I Know (from Whitney Houston (album))

3. I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me) (from Whitney)

2. Saving All My Love (For You) (from Whitney Houston (album))

1. I Will Always Love You  (from The Bodyguard: Original Soundtrack Album)

And there you have it.  These are my favorite songs from Whitney Houston.  Let me know what you guys think of my list in the comments section.  Again, thanks for reading!  Enjoy!

New Entrants
We have only one new entrant this week, and it comes from returning artist Julia Michaels with her second single titled Uh Huh. Earlier this summer, we had Body Like A Back Road debut on the countdown. My opinions have not changed since; I still think it’s the worst song of the year by a landslide. Our new entrant, Uh Huh, is the second worst song of the year in my opinion. I don’t get what people like about it because when I first listened to it, I was not impressed at all. The lyrics to this song are absolutely horrific in her new single. Julia’s vocals are just as appalling. If I were a professional music critic, and I find that this is one of the best songs of the year, I will be extremely ticked off. Now, I’ll probably still like Issues to some degree even though I’ve been growing out of her predecessor for some time now, and unlike some of you, I’m not as infuriated when it comes on the radio. But when it comes to her new single, I just cannot like Uh Huh like I did with Issues. When it comes to this song in general, I have a feeling it’s going to be the Me Too of 2017. Unlike Me Too, which was a big guilty pleasure of mine from last year, this song isn’t, and there’s nothing I like about it that makes me want to dance to it or even have it on repeat. Overall, this is easily a candidate for my Top 5 worst songs of the year and I hope it does not become a massive hit, because my reaction will not be pretty if it does.

Oh, No, No, I Just Keep On Blurbing Back To You
– I’m not thrilled that this is the song that replaces Fitz & The Tantrums – HandClap. While I don’t quite like it as much as I used to, I still think it’s pretty solid. Good-Bye, HandClap. You will not be forgotten.

– Before introducing Stay Together, Spyder Harrison mentioned that Noah went jet skiing with Austin Mahone. Rumors are going around that they’re possibly dating.
– Before introducing Sign Of The Times, Spyder Harrison mentioned that during an interview with The Morning Mash-Up, Harry Styles said that his current favorite song was Bad Liar. Apparently, he doesn’t seem to pay attention to the other critics’ take on that song. But if he loves it, that’s just his opinion.
– On that note, I’m thrilled to see Bad Liar having the Biggest DRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week this week. I honestly couldn’t take anymore of that song. Hopefully, it won’t be much longer with us.
– I can’t believe Play That Song is still here. C’mon, people. Can we please get this awful song off the countdown already?!
– Before introducing I’m The One, Spyder Harrison mentioned that Justin Bieber explained why he decided to cancel the rest of his tour in a letter he sent to his fans. Justin Bieber himself mentioned that he wanted his career to be sustainable. He posted the rest of his letter on his Twitter page. Now with that said, I’m shocked that I’m The One took a big jump despite the lack of airplay this week. Apparently, it doesn’t look like it wants to give up just yet, heh.
– Before introducing It Ain’t Me, Spyder Harrison mentioned that Justin Bieber is currently dating someone that resembles Selena Gomez. Apparently, it seems he has a specific type of girls he’s looking for.
– Of course, One More Light would have the Biggest Jump Of The Week this week. Whether this becomes a hit or not, we’ll have to see.
Hailee Steinfeld is supposedly starring in a Transformers spin-off titled Bumblebee, which will feature pro wrestler John Cena. No word on what role they’ll play at this moment, but I’m interested to see what happens in the movie, which comes out next year.
– Before introducing Attention, Spyder Harrison mentioned that Charlie Puth is rumored to be joining Katy Perry on the upcoming American Idol reboot. That could be a perfect gig for him. After all, he’s a rising star much like some of the artists currently on the countdown.
– And that brings us to our #1 song, in which Believer spends it’s second week at the top spot. Though I would’ve preferred for Something Just Like This or There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back, I don’t mind Believer taking the #1 spot, as long as it blocks Body Like A Back Road from getting there.

Hit-Bound

Bebe Rexha – The Way I Are (Dance With Somebody)
Kesha – Praying
Ed Sheeran – Galway Girl
Harry Styles – Two Ghosts
The Chainsmokers – Honest
Imagine Dragons – Thunder
The All-American Rejects – Sweat
Andy Grammer – Give Love
Macklemore featuring Skylar Grey – Glorious
Demi Lovato – Sorry Not Sorry
Shawn Hook featuring Vanessa Hudgens – Reminding Me
Zedd featuring Liam Payne – Get Low
Rita Ora – Your Song (DEBUT)
The Revivalists – Wish I Knew You (DEBUT)
– Our first of two new entrants on Hit-Bound comes from Rita Ora with her new single Your Song. I briefly reviewed this song on YouTube 15 back in June. But to sum it up, I can’t really say I’m enjoying this song just yet, but there are some things I like about it. I can see this song growing on me in the near future.
– Second, we have The Revivalists with the song Wish I Knew You. I’m quite surprised this made it on Hit-Bound considering it’s from 2016. There’s not much I can say about this song other than I find this decent. We’ll see if it grows on me.
– On a sad note, we say good-bye to Paramore – Hard Times. It would’ve been really nice if that song made it to the countdown, but unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be a hit. Oh well. Maybe another day.

TIE: 1. Sam Hunt – Body Like A Back Road
TIE: 1. Julia Michaels – Uh Huh
3. Selena Gomez – Bad Liar
4. Train – Play That Song
5. Maroon 5 – Don’t Wanna Know

Songs That Debuted This Week One Year Ago:
AJR – I’m Not Famous: One of the blogging community’s most hated songs, and I can somewhat see why. I’m not really a fan of the vocals, but the lyrics kinda made sense. It’s basically not wanting to be famous and the fact that they don’t have any haters.
Ariana Grande – Into You: Easily the best single off of Dangerous Woman album, and for a very good reason. Ariana’s vocals and the lyrics to this song are excellent. Combine that with great EDM production and you can see why this was a fan favorite. I love that it has references to Mariah Carey’s 2008 single Touch My Body.

Top 5 Songs from Linkin Park

This is a special post about my Top 5 songs from Linkin Park.  For those who don’t know, Linkin Park was formed in 1996 and have since became one of the most popular rock bands of the 21st Century.  Today, the band members lost one of their own when lead vocalist Chester Bennington tragically passed away a couple weeks ago after he committed suicide.  My hearts and prayers still go out to his family at this difficult time.  So with that in mind, I’ve decided to share a list of my favorite songs from Linkin Park.  Here they are:

5. A Light That Never Comes (featuring Steve Aoki)
4. Crawling

3. Burn It Down

2. Numb

1. In The End

Biggest DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: Kygo featuring Selena Gomez – It Ain’t Me (-14)
Biggest Jump Of The Week: Tie between All Time Low – Good Times and Fall Out Boy – Champion (+16)

New Entrants
Our first of two entrants comes from Linkin Park with One More Light. I can’t really say much about this song except it’s basically a tribute to the late Chester Bennington, who passed away last week after committing suicide. I think this song is appropriate for a tribute single, mainly because of the production and the vocals. That’s all I’ve got for now.

– Next, we have more Louis Tomlinson, this time with his new single Back To You which features Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals. I didn’t really expect this to debut so soon, but I’m kinda happy that it did. I do like the production, the vocals, and pretty much everything else. I’m not gonna say this is better than Just Hold On yet, but this is a keeper.

I’ll Blurb You At Your Word And Carry On
– Let’s begin with our exits this week. Neither Overwhelming nor Good Time Good Life were popular everywhere else, so it wasn’t surprising to see them leave so soon (the latter which WAMB10 is very disappointed about). It would’ve been nice to see them last another week or two.
Believer has finally managed to reach #1 after several weeks in the Top 5. I figured it was going to end up getting that spot sooner or later, given that it’s still gaining steam elsewhere. While there are some people who are disappointed about this, I’m not one of them.
– We have two new entrants in the Top 5 this week. Unfortunately, one of those entrants is Body Like A Back Road, which I’m not thrilled about at all. But the entry from Slow Hands is welcome.
It Ain’t Me took a massive drop out of the Top 10 and out of the Top 20 altogether. Meanwhile, we have the awful Bad Liar which has barely cracked the Top 15. It would be really nice if we could swap places with these two songs.
– On that note, Malibu took another big drop all the way down to the bottom of the countdown. Looks like Miley Cyrus won’t have a hit like she did with Wrecking Ball & We Can’t Stop. It’s not going to be much longer until it leaves.

– In music news, Katy Perry is set to host the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards, which will take place on the night of August 27, 2017. This is certainly welcoming news as I’ve always been a fan of Katy Perry and her music. I’m hoping this year’s awards show will certainly be better than last year, which wasn’t that exciting.

Hit-Bound

Demi Lovato – Sorry Not Sorry
Harry Styles – Two Ghosts
Julia Michaels – Uh Huh
Andy Grammer – Give Love
Ed Sheeran – Galway Girl
Macklemore featuring Skylar Grey – Glorious

Bebe Rexha – The Way I Are (Dance With Somebody)
Paramore – Hard Times
The Chainsmokers – Honest
Kesha – Praying
Zedd featuring Liam Payne – Get Low (DEBUT)
The All-American Rejects – Sweat

– Our only entrant this week comes from returning artist Zedd, this time collaborating with One Direction member Liam Payne with their new single titled Get Low. The production is similar to Stay, except with Liam’s vocals. While I can’t say this is better than Stay at the moment, at least this one is enjoyable. I’ll talk more about this should it debut.

1. Kesha – Praying

Songs That Debuted This Week One Year Ago:
Jordan Fisher – All About Us: From the very first listen, I instantly fell in love with the song, mainly because he as so much energy and charisma throughout the song. While I won’t really say that this is the best debut single from a rising artist, he has shown that he has great vocals. He sounds basically like a younger version of Usher.
Jacob Whitesides – Lovesick: This one is a pretty fun listen. I’m in love with the intro where the “Hmm’s” come in, and the song definitely has some throwback vibe. Overall, this track a keeper, and I wish it could’ve been a success elsewhere.
Demi Lovato – Body Say: When it comes to making sex anthems, Demi Lovato does it perfectly. Almost every aspect of the song (from the sultry lyrics to her vocals) is very well done. This song also goes to show everyone that Demi Lovato is no longer a Disney star and has moved on to making more mature music.

Shawn Mendes (3) – Week Of July 22, 2017

Despite the fact that we’re pretty much in the dog days of summer, this was a rather decent week for the most part.  While there were some things that were not to my liking, we did get rid of a couple pieces of garbage and replaced them with some good stuff.  Before we get to this week’s countdown, I would like to send my condolences to the friends and family of Linkin Park’s very own Chester Bennington, who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 41 after committing suicide.  Let’s have a moment of silence.

Now with that being said, here are the songs we’re saying good-bye to this week:

  • Niall Horan – This Town (#40)
  • Maroon 5 – Cold (#35)
  • Machine Gun Kelly featuring Camila Cabello – Bad Things (#45)

The Countdown:

– Our first debut this week comes from returning artist All Time Low with Good Times.  I’m not necessarily sure how I feel about this.  Much like Missing You from last year, this is one of those songs that takes a while to grow on me.  There are some things to like about this song, but in some parts it feels a little underwhelming.  Still, we need songs like this, especially given the recent news that we’ve had this week.  It may be in blue for now, but I can see myself putting this in green in the near future.

– Next, we have the return of Fall Out Boy with their new single titled Champion.  Now, this is definitely better than their lead single Young & Menace, which was not to everyone’s liking.  Champion sounds more radio-friendly much like their previous singles, such as Centuries, Irresistable, Uma Thurman, etc.  I’m in love with the intro, where they use the electric guitar.  We’ll see if this becomes a hit, which I hope it will.

– Finally, we have a song that is currently popular right now, in the form of Wild Thoughts by DJ Khaled with Rihanna & Bryson Tiller.  Personally, I think this song is better than I’m The One.  I’m definitely in love with the electric guitar they’ve added to the song.  Rihanna does a much better job with her vocals, and adding the rap breakdown from Bryson Tiller helps.  The production overall is very good.  Here’s to hoping it stays on the countdown and doesn’t end up flopping like I’m The One is doing right now.

When I’m With You, All I Get Is Wild Blurbs
I can’t really say I’m gonna miss either of our exits.  Both Bad Things & Cold were overdue for some time and This Town I was ready to part with.  Next!

– Speaking of Maroon 5, how is Don’t Wanna Know still here?!  Honestly, that song should’ve left this week like its successor did.  C’mon, Hits 1.  Let’s get with it already.

I’m The One took a pretty big drop down to the Bottom 5 here on the countdown, whereas it’s in the Top 5 everywhere else.  Another sign that Hits 1 doesn’t care for hip-hop.

– I recently watched an interview in which Aaron Carter talks about his struggles in his life and starts to break down in tears.  Watching the interview made me feel sad, especially considering what he’s going through right now.

Malibu surprisingly had the Biggest DRRRRRRROP!!!! Of The Week this week by dropping out of the Top 30 altogether.  Yikes!  I was starting to lose interest in that song, but dang!

– So, Hits 1 plays the David Guetta remix of Versace On The Floor.  If I’m being honest here, I much prefer the original version of the song.  I can understand that Hits 1 tries to make the song sound more radio-friendly by putting in remixes to their songs, much like they did with Hymn For The Weekend last year.  But Versace On The Floor is meant to be a slow song.  No remix will help.

– Along with Don’t Wanna Know, can Play That Song please stop testing my patience and leave already?!  It’s bad enough that we’ve had to deal with this song for several months.  The people who are still voting needs to get with it and realize that it’s not popular anymore.

– I’m surprised Closer is still on the countdown, despite the fact that it lost it’s popularity a long time ago.  In fact, it’s very close to lasting a year here (it debuted way back in August last year).  If that were to happen, it would be the first song to reach that milestone since Shut Up And Dance.

– It’s no surprise that Redbone had the Biggest Jump Of The Week this week, but it doesn’t make the song any better for me.

– I would like to say congratulations to Luis Fonsi, Justin Bieber, and Daddy Yankee because their single, Despacito, is now the most streamed song of all time!  With that said, I’m not thrilled that it took a nasty drop out of the Top 20 this week.  Here’s to hoping it recovers soon.

– The guest DJ that introduced Attention called Charlie Puth a cutie-pie.  How adorable!

Believer has now reached a new peak at #2.  I wouldn’t be surprised if this reaches #1 within the next week or so.  It helps that this song is still gaining popularity on the radio charts.

– Speaking of #1, Shawn Mendes is back at the top spot this week!  It’s still getting better for me with each listen.  Now the question is, will it stay there for another week?  That would be really nice, but we’ll wait and see what happens.

Hit-Bound

Bebe Rexha – The Way I Are (Dance With Somebody) (DEBUT)
All-American Rejects – Sweat (DEBUT)
Andy Grammer – Give Love
The Chainsmokers – Honest
Paramore – Hard Times
Kesha – Praying
Louis Tomlinson featuring Bebe Rexha and Digital Farms Animals – Back To You (DEBUT)
Julia Michaels – Uh Huh
Harry Styles – Two Ghosts (DEBUT)
Shawn Hook featuring Vanessa Hudgens – Reminding Me
Macklemore featuring Skylar Grey – Glorious
Imagine Dragons – Thunder
Demi Lovato – Sorry Not Sorry
Ed Sheeran – Galway Girl

– We have quite a shake-up on Hit-Bound this week.  Let’s begin with more Bebe Rexha with her new single The Way I Are (Dance With Somebody).  I’m not gonna say it’s as good as I Got You from earlier this year, but it’s something I can listen to every once in a while.

– Who remembers the All-American Rejects?  They’re a band that have had many hits.  Singles such as Move Along & It Ends Tonight were really good.  Their new single, Sweat, is quite a different story, as least as of right now.  I’ll have to give it more listens.

– We have more Louis Tomlinson, this time with Bebe Rexha & Digital Farm Animals with their single Back To You.  There are some things I like about this song, such as the production and the vocals.  But again, I’ll have to listen to it more often to get a full opinion.

– Finally, there’s Harry Styles, this time with his new single Two Ghosts.  While I can’t really say it’s as good as Sign Of The Times, at least he’s going more rock, which in my opinion is a better route than what his One Direction members are doing.

– We sadly say good-bye to Cut To The Feeling this week, which is unfortunate because I was in love with that song.  It’s too bad that people will only remember Carly Rae Jepsen for her 2012 summer hit, Call Me Maybe.

1. Kesha – Praying
2. Ed Sheeran – Galway Girl
3. Paramore – Hard Times
4. Shawn Hook featuring Vanessa Hudgens – Reminding Me

Songs That Debuted This Week One Year Ago:
5 Seconds Of Summer – Girls Talk Boys: Taken from the Ghostbusters movie soundtrack, this song got mixed reactions from the blogging community when it first dropped.  I was kinda mixed on this as well, but I had grown into it to a degree.  I was surprised this one made the Year-End list on Hits 1, despite that it flopped pretty much everywhere else after the Ghostbusters hype died out.

Zedd & Alessia Cara (4) – Week Of July 15, 2017

I’ve been pretty busy this week.  I went to an interview for another job and did some other important things.  I don’t have much to say in terms of the introduction because I want to get this post out as soon as possible.  I have a very busy weekend ahead of me, so I’ll just leave it like it is just for your guys to read and comment.  As far as this week’s countdown goes, It was kinda a mixed bag.  While some good things have happened, there are also some stuff that isn’t to my liking, but at least we’re getting some activity.  We’re not quite out of the summer lull just yet.  We can only hope that things really start to gain some steam within the next few weeks.  Before we get to the countdown, here are the songs we’re saying good-bye to this week:

New Entrants
– We have two entrants this week.  First let’s start with my least favorite debut of the week, with a song that is currently popular at this moment which is Redbone from Childish Gambino.  If I’m being honest, there’s not really anything to like about this song and personally, I feel there are better songs on Hit-Bound that should’ve debuted instead.  Now, about this song, I’m not really a fan of the vocals and I feel this song seems to drag on forever from the first listen.  Don’t get me wrong. I like slow songs, including our next entrant which I’ll get to in a bit.  But unfortunately this isn’t really one of them.  Next!
– Second, we have my favorite debut of the week.  Here, we have more Bruno Mars with his new single Versace On The Floor.  Although I prefer his other singles from his 24K Magic album, I still like this one because Bruno Mars does it perfectly.  This song pretty much reminds me of a Michael Jackson song that I won’t mention.  Every single he has released since Uptown Funk he comes very close to sounding like Michael Jackson, in terms of his vocals and production.  The song itself is basically about him dating a girl and they want to take their relationship a step further.  Here’s to hoping it becomes a hit like his predecessors.
Oooh, Blurb It Off For Me, For Me, For Me, For Me Now Girl
– We’ll start with the exits, as always.  I Don’t Wanna Live Forever I was ready to move on from.  Swalla, on the other hand, took the undeserved exit.  It’s too bad Jason Derulo can’t get a hit like his previous singles before it.  While I know there’s a least one person who I won’t name be happy about its departure, I’m not one of them.
– Well, it doesn’t look like Sign Of The Times is going to end up being big on Hits 1 unfortunately.  Most of the songs from One Direction, whether it be from the band itself or one of its members, have made it to the Top 5 at some point.  But this will likely be the exception, which is unfortunate because I find Sign Of The Times to be a much better song from a solo act.  Oh well, maybe another day.
– Before introducing I’m The One, Spyder Harrison mentioned that Justin Bieber is rumored to be looking for an Australian girl, but that he’s getting help from his pastor.  Hopefully, he succeeds at finding the right one.
– On a positive note, congrats to both Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars for reaching 2.5 billion views on YouTube with his single Uptown Funk!
– With Issues dropping out of the Top 20, I have a feeling it won’t be much longer with us.  In fact, it’s losing steam pretty much everywhere else recently.
– On that note, Say You Won’t Let Go dropped out as well.  While I know there are some people who will be happy about this, I’m not necessarily one of them, even though it’s fading on me just a bit.
– When I heard Strip That Down play as Ear Poppin’ Music! sometime this week, the voice-over mentioned Quavo‘s name, despite the fact that Hits 1 edited his verse out of the song.

It Ain’t Me has finally made it back into the Top 5 after spending seemingly forever in the #6-#8 range.  Now the question is, will it crack the Top 3?  No one knows yet, but I would like it to someday.

– And that brings us to our #1 song this week, with Stay taking that spot for the fourth time overall.  Now, I don’t quite enjoy this song as much as I used to, but I don’t mind it spending another week at #1.

Hit-Bound

Paramore – Hard Times
Macklemore featuring Skylar Grey – Glorious
Julia Michaels – Uh Huh
The Chainsmokers – Honest
All Time Low – Good Times
Carly Rae Jepsen – Cut To The Feeling
Demi Lovato – Sorry Not Sorry (DEBUT)
Andy Grammer – Give Love
Fall Out Boy – Champion
DJ Khaled featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller – Wild Thoughts (DEBUT)
Kesha – Praying (DEBUT)
Imagine Dragons – Thunder
Ed Sheeran – Galway Girl
Shawn Hook featuring Vanessa Hudgens – Reminding Me

– Our first debut on Hit-Bound comes from returning artist Demi Lovato, in the form of Sorry Not Sorry.  It sounds like she’s going in a more EDM route in terms of her new album.  While it’s no Cool For The Summer or Confident, I kinda like it, for now.  I’ll have more words for this should it debut.

– Second, we have another DJ Khaled collaboration, this time with Rihanna and Bryson Tiller in their new single Wild Thoughts.  I personally think this is better than I’m The One which was released two months ago.  The production here is pretty good overall.  With this song being popular everywhere else, I expect it to make the countdown soon.

– Finally, after a few years, we have the return of Kesha with her powerful new single titled Praying.  She had spent some time in hiatus in the wake of her lawsuit against Dr. Luke.  Today, she has released two singles from her upcoming album, including this one which I’ll talk briefly about.  While it’s a slow ballad, she still delivers on her vocals and the production is good.  I’ll talk more about this if it debuts, but this is a nice comeback single for Kesha.

My Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
TIE: 1. Carly Rae Jepsen – Cut To The Feeling
TIE: 1. Ed Sheeran – Galway Girl
3. Kesha – Praying
4. DJ Khaled featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller – Wild Thoughts

Songs That Debuted This Week One Year Ago:
Drake featuring Wizkid and Kyla – One Dance: Arguably the biggest song of last summer.  I kinda stopped caring for this song, in part because of me hearing it too much.  However, I definitely liked Drake‘s direction of going more R&B rather than Hip-Hop or Rap.
Lukas Graham – Mama Said: I actually do like this to some degree.  Personally, I think if it weren’t for the annoying kids in the background, this probably would have been more in the blue/green range for me.
The 1975 – The Sound: I initially found this song to be only decent.  But with time, I’ve grown to actually enjoy it.  Looking back at it, I wish this was a big hit elsewhere.
Symon – Say: I was never a fan of this song, mainly because the lyrics to this song are so repetitve.  And no, adding the rap breakdown doesn’t help at all.  In fact, it just makes the song even worse.  Good thing she’s hosting Hits 1 In Hollywood.

Shawn Mendes (2) – Week Of July 8, 2017

This was another week in which nothing really happened. I have a feeling this summer lull is going to drag on longer than most of us expected, but I’ll still be able to get my posts out just for you guys to read. There are no songs leaving the countdown this week, so let’s get right to it.

#1 Song This Week One Year Ago: Justin Timberlake – Can’t Stop The Feeling [4th of 10 Weeks at #1]

Biggest DRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: Jason Derulo featuring Ty Dolla $ign and Nicki Minaj – Swalla

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Luis Fonsi featuring Justin Bieber and Daddy Yankee – Despacito (+21)

Don’t Be Afraid To Catch Blurbs
– Before introducing This Town, Spyder Harrison mentioned that Niall Horan is currently single because he’s too busy working on his album. I guess he just doesn’t have the time to look for a girlfriend at this moment.
– This is the second week in a row which Swalla had the Biggest DRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week. Pretty sad if you ask me.
– Before introducing Sooner Or Later, Spyder Harrison mentioned that Aaron Carter went to the McDonald’s drive-thru and people immediately recognized him. It looks like the employees there are fans of his music, too.
– So, Taylor Swift did not throw a 4th Of July party this year, huh? I wonder what did she do for the holiday weekend. Maybe had a private gathering, perhaps?
I’m The One doesn’t seem to be doing much on the countdown as it dropped back into the Top 30 this week. Again, this goes to show that Hits 1 doesn’t really care for hip-hop in general.
– Before Introducing Malibu, Spyder Harrison mentioned that Miley Cyrus credited Liam Hemsworth for helping her get into The Voice with a better attitude. I’ll bet she happy to have the support of her current boyfriend. Also, I heard they canceled their wedding for whatever reason, which was shocking to Hollywood.
– Speaking of Justin Bieber, Despacito took a huge jump into the Top 20. Perfectly fine by me as I consider this song to be better than I’m The One. In fact, both songs are still in the Top 5 on Billboard.
Ed Sheeran decided to quit Twitter because there were many people saying rude tweets about him. I guess even some of the best singers have haters nowadays.
– We have two Top 10 entrants this week. One is a re-entry from Paris, which I still enjoy. The other is Body Like A Back Road, which I’m not thrilled about. Unfortunately, the latter is not leaving anytime soon, so I’ll have to put up with it.
– Thankfully though, we have There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back at #1 for the 2nd week. I pretty much explained last week that I’ve been enjoying this song more and I personally think it’s the best single from Illuminate. Hopefully, it can stay for as long as it wants.
